Nov. 22, 2005 We all know what we associate Thanksgiving with, but do we really know what the definition of Thanksgiving is? I took the liberty of going to www.m-w.com and found the following definition for Thanksgiving; Main Entry: thanks·giv·ing Pronunciation: tha[ng](k)s-'gi-vi[ng] also 'tha[ng](k)s-" Function: noun 1 : the act of giving thanks 2 : a prayer expressing gratitude 3 a : a public acknowledgment or celebration of divine goodness b capitalized : THANKSGIVING DAY Most of us overstuff ourselves as well as our birds on this blessed day. Have we earned the right to do so? For the most part I would say absolutely! I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my readers and friends for taking the time out of their hectic lives to read and comment on my articles-even if we don’t entirely agree on all points. I would like to thank Matt for inviting and allowing me the latitude to post articles of human interest and personal perspective that have prompted lasting friendships and lifelong debates. I am not a particularly religious person in the traditional sense, but want to let all of my readers out in cyber-space know that I applaud every persons right to worship as they see fit. This should be free from persecution and the diversity celebrated because that is what makes America this great melting pot! I would also like to thank those people that have attacked me personally for voicing my opinions, beliefs, and thoughts because they have helped to strengthen my resolve in a peaceful and tolerant world! Whatever you might be doing this special day be certain to take a moment and give thanks that you are able to celebrate it freely and with the special people that make life worth living!
