Nov. 22, 2005 I hope Mr. Editor will forgive me for being slightly shy of 500 words, but my topics are simple and my comments brief. In one of his recent articles Ken Hughes remarked, “I find it hard to believe Michael John McCray (sic) would deliberately offend anyone.” Did Hughes overlook the title of a recent article penned by McCrae and entitled, “A Day Without Thomas Keyes Is Like A Day Not Having Stepped In Dog Poo.”? Not only is this offensive, but it is childish and obscene. Is this McCrae’s conception of the Golden Rule? I suppose in Hughes’ view, I’m a non-person, and leveling an insult at me doesn’t matter. If that is his view, it is mutual. As for Michael McCrae, since he will not admit that he lost our debate, I will. I suppose in his heart, he believes some of the things he’s saying. He has been abusing me off and on in his articles for about a year, and I never responded directly till recently. This time he interposed himself in a debate I was having with Skip Toomaloo, and in those offensive terms I mentioned above. Oh well, I can find it in my heart to overlook his insults. I lived in Lower East Manhattan for four years, and I’ve put up with much worse abuse than that. Farewell! Good luck! As for Dennis Siluk, I did not read his reply. My sole argument is that he makes many grammatical errors, far more even than Hughes, and that his statistics are false. There is absolutely nothing he can say that will change that, so why should I read his remarks? He also has a penchant for obscenity, and I’m just not interested. I wish Meri Ulrich would use a little less obscenity. Can’t a person state an idea without resorting to all sorts of slightly off-color expressions? I don’t even like to quote them, though I have quoted others in the past, because I don’t want the words in my articles. Ulrich is relatively new to the site, but let me explain to her that the whole matter of IQ arose months ago, when McCrae starting writing articles pretending to make atheists sound stupid. Had he not done that, I would never have brought the subject up at all. However, I do have a high IQ. Am I not entitled to say so or suggest as much? Other people boast about their exploits and virtues. As for Lee Caldwell-Owens, let me apologize about misspelling your name. As for your opinions about mine, more power to you. I hope you find your ghosts and your gods some day. ------------ About the author Thomas Keyes: I have written two books: A SOJOURN IN ASIA (non-fiction) and A TALE OF UNG (fiction), neither published so far.
