Nov. 22, 2005 I recently heard Beth Twitty make the remark that she did not purchase a life insurance policy for her daughter Natalee Holloway. I also heard Dave Holloway confirm that when Natalee was a toddler, a life insurance policy was purchased for her. This is a common occurrence among parents of small children and certainly nothing that requires attention from an investigative body attempting to discover why this child disappeared some 18 years after the policy was issued. The policy, according to Dave Holloway was for a nominal amount and anyone who sees this as some kind of motive for harming her is way out of line. Why would anyone wait 18 years for the child to take a trip to a far away Island to arrange for the murder of that child in order to cash in the policy? How could anyone have known that 16 or 17 years after the policy was issued that the child in question would go on a high school trip to Aruba and that would be the perfect time to get rid of her? This is all so ludicrous that I wouldn't even mention it if not for the fact that the Investigators on Aruba seemed to think that the policy was important to their case. Case? What case? Maybe I've answered my own question. They have built no case so they are grasping at straws to divert attention from the three suspects and since they have either ignored or failed to collect and test any evidence that may have existed I suppose that an insurance policy taken out on a one or two year old child sixteen years before her disappearance on THEIR Island would now become a factor in their so-called investigation. I have another problem with this insurance policy and this one is difficult to contemplate and even more difficult to write about. I have a lot of sympathy for Beth Twitty because she is the mother of the missing child but she has removed herself from reality as of late and made some statements that are just plain unbelievable. Beth stated that she never took out a policy on Natalee. Dave states that they did. Dave is an insurance professional and he should know about life insurance policies, especially one taken out on the life of his daughter. He had no problem admitting to the existence of said policy and showed no fear or concern at it's existence. He was puzzled and disgusted that the Investigators on Aruba would even bring up such a ridiculous premise and waste one moment investigating it as a motive for Natalee's disappearance. Of course, since they seem more interested in spinning the truth and placing blame on the victim's family, it is not terribly surprising that this group would do such a thing. Whatever happened to Natalee Holloway initiated on Aruba and most likely ended on Aruba. Contrary to Dr. Phil's nonsense I doubt very much that Natalee is locked in a brothel somewhere with dyed hair. It is more likely that she is out in the ocean a mile or so away from the Island of Aruba and that she has been there for nearly six months. I want to publicly say to Beth Twitty that whoever is advising you to spin the truth is putting you in a position that is no more sound than the spinners on Aruba. The boycott is NOT just for the "safety" of people who might travel to Aruba and the statistics back that up. Your home state is far more dangerous than Aruba. For that matter, so is mine and probably all of the other United States. The call for a boycott has been put forth because you felt that the authorities on Aruba were not doing their job and you want an accounting of what they have done and are doing to find your daughter. That reasoning I can understand. The fact that the lines of communication have been practically non-existent is also another valid reason for your frustration and another reason why you called for a boycott. Stick to the valid reasons and stop with the bogus ones because they cause you to lose credibility. Stop with the comments that contradict Natalee's father and make it appear as if none of you are on the same page and have the same goal...to find out what happened to Natalee and hopefully recover her. I was confounded and disgusted when I heard Beth's denial about the insurance policy and her so-called reasoning for the boycott and it made me angry with her. I don't want to feel anger toward this woman who has lost so much but she makes it impossible to feel otherwise when she makes statements that are transparently untrue. Just as the Arubans seem to feel that we American's are stupid enough to shrug our shoulders and let them wait out the time period until they can clear all of the suspects names without questioning their methods, it is just as ridiculous for a member of Natalee's family to believe that American's are stupid enough not to see the disparity between the comments of the mother and father and to realize that someone is NOT telling the truth or at least is bending it to suit the situation. Dave Holloway has been patient beyond anything that I could ever imagine. He only spoke out against the Aruban authorities when his frustration level reached breaking point. Therefore, I tend to believe what Dave Holloway says and I tend to think that he has done all that he can to cooperate BEFORE he threw up his hands in total and utter frustration. I believe Dave Holloway when he says that a nominal life insurance policy was taken out on his baby daughter and that it has no bearing on the tragedy that befell his child many years later. When he says that the letter that he signed requesting the over-hauling of the entire investigative team on Aruba was done out of that frustration and ONLY after all other methods of attempted cooperation failed, I believe him. That leaves me in the sad position of no longer finding what Beth says credible and suspecting that she is getting some bad advice from those around her on how to conduct herself during the course of this long and excruciating hunt for answers as to what happened to her daughter. If the family is not on the same page and the Arubans are not on the same page amongst themselves and their various investigative bodies than how can anything even resembling justice come out of this mess? I suppose that by stating the "she" didn't take out a policy, Beth is using partial truth. If Dave, who worked in the Insurance field actually took out the policy than I suppose she could say that "she" didn't do it. But, she probably knew about it and she is NOT helping herself by using this slight of hand and parsing of the truth. Beth, you don't need to practice politics when discussing what happened to you on Aruba and how you have not been treated fairly by the investigators. That has become clear to many of us and there is no need to make yourself look foolish and to detract from your purpose. This Bill Clintonesque type of word play strikes the same chord in me that Mr. Clinton's remarks did...it makes me doubt you and your truthfulness. Stick to the facts and stop trying to spin them. Don't resort to the methods that those you find fault with are using. Don't put yourself in the same league with those who stone-wall and divert or you will become as believable as they are. ------------ About the author: Meri has a Medical/Legal background and is a former forensic researcher specializing in psychological profiling. https://www2.xlibris.com/bookstore/bookdisplay.asp?bookid=27335 Email: writers2@cox.net Tell a friend about this site! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com.
