Nov. 12, 2005 I’m sure some time in this century An African American will be elected President. Lets hope by that time the African can be dropped and that person’s elected because they’re American without the hyphenation. Tim Stelly’s written some interesting articles of late. He’s given us three possibilities for presidential candidates, all Republican’s, Colin Powell, Condi Rice, and J.C. Watts. Personally, I could support any of the three. I’m fully aware none will run for president, and I’ll explain the reason why. I’ve eliminated Alan Keyes, he ran for the nomination and lost. Should Colin Powell become a candidate for president his own people would immediately brand him an Uncle Tom. General Powell served his country with honor and dignity for many years. I doubt he would care to fight the battle of self-identification all over again. General Powell’s given, there’s no need to give again. Condi Rice is far too intelligent to be a president. Dr. Rice intelligence rates up their with Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklyn. As much as I would like to see Dr. Rice and Senator Clinton square, off in the political ring. President Condi Rice would be a waste of talent that can better serve the country as an advisor and diplomat. That can be said about General Powell as well. These two along with Mohamed Allie could very well be the best-known and most respected Americans in the world. It’s interesting to knot each of these transcends their color. They’re judged for their accomplishments not their racial tones. J.C. Watts was a bright young man on his way to making an accomplished carrier of politics. He was another who considered himself colorless. His opponents didn’t, he was brought down by the Porn-King, Larry Flint. Flint attacked Reverend Watts for no other reason than he was a Black Republican. That’s an unforgivable sin to Liberal Democrats. I hope that Reverend Watts will reemerge on the political seen some time in the future. His talent’s are needed in the Congress. None Black, Black_men are a rarity in politics. Perhaps Tim Stelly will now give us three African American Democrats aside from those Black Hustlers he mentioned in his J.C. watts article, he believes would qualify for the presidency. I can only think of two and their long way off in experience. Harold Ford of Tennessee and Barack Obama of Illinois. I would be interested and knowing why he thinks they, [whoever he chooses] would qualify as a potential president. Tim wasn’t very kind to Reverend Watts, that’s understandable Tim Stelly is one of those Democrats who practices the politics of personal destruction. They say anything that comes to mind regardless of how ridiculous it sounds. Tarnishing a mans reputation is just one more day at the office for Liberal Democrats. I’ve often wondered what makes American Blacks so hateful. I grew up in the Caribbean where there was every race color and creed, we all got along, I’m not saying there wasn’t discrimination, there was but it was economic not color based. I’ve seen black populations in the Americas, Africa, the Pacific I can tell you Black Americans have it better than any ethnic populations any where in the world. If Blacks are held back in America it’s because they refuse to move forward by their own efforts. There have been to many Blacks in America who’ve succeeded for all Blacks to be painted with the same brush. For Blacks to be treated as equals they must begin to act as equals and stop bitching. Stop accepting the hand out and start earning their place at the table. Finally, when you meet a Black Republican treat him as a brother with the same rights you demand, to respect his or her personal choices. ------------ About the author: Ken Hughes joined the Republican Party at the age of three.
