Ron Lewis Got The Short End Of The Stick Measuring Contest

By Bonijean Isaacs
Nov. 6, 2005

Writers write and readers read, but what do readers want to read? Do they really want to read about Useless Knowledge writers bashing each other? Some of the male authors do seem to have a stick measuring contest among each other. It must be a guy thing.

Judy and I are not included in that group. The guys are gentlemen and don't want to appear to be beating up on girls. Judy and I can get all the sticks we want without measuring them. We can gather up all the tiny little twigs and use them as kindling under a log for a big blazing campfire. Judy and I can have a hot dog and smores eating party as we discuss the silliness of male and other interesting things to write about.

Useless Knowledge is one of the most interesting writing groups that I have been in.

I discovered Useless Knowledge while doing a goggle search on Natalee Holloway. I am in a Forensic Astrology group. We were doing horary charts on the event. I was researching information on the case. Natalee showed up several times on the Useless Knowledge site. I liked the Useless Knowledge Site so much that I came on board as a writer.

What I really like about the Useless Knowledge Site is the camaraderie among the writers. Some e-mail messages disagree with what I write which is fine. They have that right. I appreciate the suggestions on how to improve my writing. The supportive messages are wonderful.

Useless Knowledge is a vehicle that I can use to gain refine my writing skills and gain recognition as a Freelance Writer. Currently, I don't get paid as a author but that is a reality that can change. Success is also knowing what readers want to read about.

How many more Natalee Holloway articles do Useless Knowledge readers want to see? Do they really care what else Natalee Holloway's mother has to say. It is exploiting a family tragedy to be constantly writing on this subject. Enough is enough at least in my not so humble opinion.

Writing talents are useful to me as an Astrologer for explaining complex planetary aspects to a client. Nevertheless, Useless Knowledge readers generally don't want to read about Astrology. I belong to groups and have a blog for that purpose. I don't have to bore Useless Knowledge readers by writing about the stars and planets.

Do readers want to see Useless Knowledge writers constantly write about and attack other authors ? Are they really interested in other people's ideas about other people on Useless Knowledge? A spirited debate on the issues can be interesting but if you have to resort to calling the opponent a hemorrhoid, the debate has been lost.

I certainly did not participate in a vote to kick out the worse writer in the group. That is a meanspirited thing to do. I did not realize that Useless Knowledge is a like the Survivor Television Series. It doesn't have to be like the Jerry Springer Show either. It amazes me how many folks are willing to make fools out of themselves on national television.

If I were booted off the Useless Knowledge Site for being the worse writer I would cry. I know that Ron Lewis is a much better writer than I am. He got sacked because of what he wrote not how he wrote. Ron Lewis is definitely not the weakest link in the writing community but he did get the short end in the stick measuring contest.
