Nov. 29, 2004 With the demise of music and television as we know it, the last bastion of hope regarding entertainment is movies and literature. While literature may not be entertaining to some people, movies, however, is. It seems that Hollywood likes to think that they know what people want, but in reality, they don’t. Did anyone really see Alexander? Warner Brothers’ epic film about Alexander The Great. A three hour movie with big names like Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie, that looks Oscar worthy, but is it really? Obviously not, because not only did no one watch it, the critics hated it. Why? For starters, no one likes Colin Farrell, I’m sorry, but Colin is about as talented as Ben Affleck, he maybe has a good film every 2 years, but after that one good movie, don’t expect to see him in anything good for a long time. I don’t understand why Hollywood predicts what people want when it comes to making movies. The Aviator? Spanglish? That weird Jim Carrey movie that makes no sense. Why in God’s name would anyone want to see these movies? I’m sorry, Adam Sandler should stick with moves like Happy Gilmore or the Wedding Singer, don’t try to be serious Adam, you saw what happens to your career when you change it. Ask Eddie Murphy, or Meg Ryan. What ever happened to that new Bridget Jones movie? Oh that’s right, it bombed. I guess Renee Zellweger should have gained some talent rather than gaining some weight, either that or maybe gain a new screenwriter. The Phantom of the Opera? A movie? I don’t think so. Bad move, Hollywood, bad move. Elektra? A ripoff movie from the Daredevil movie? Didn’t Jennifer Gardner fail to realize what happens when she’s casted in anything? She bombs. Did she fail to realize what happens when a sub-movie comes? Does Catwoman ring a bell? And where did Catwoman end up? Get the picture? They are also making a Jurassic Park 4. My God. Doesn’t anyone learn to stay away from that island? And what is with children and movies, no not Disney, but Seed of Chucky? I like horror films, but this is down right stupid. Now they are making the sequel to the Mask. I didn’t particularly like the first movie, but what made the movie special was Jim Carrey. However, the Hollywood geniuses decided to make a sequel to the mask, and who is the star of the show? Jamie Kennedy. If you’re saying “who?” Then you know for a fact this movie is going to fail. Jamie Kennedy was the guy from Scream who had all those “rules” for horror films. He was also in the movie, “Malibu’s Most Wanted.” Never seen it? Exactly. You did see it, but you didn’t like it? Exactly. You wonder why America is going broke? Because of Hollywood’s poor judgement calls. Obviously, I am disappointed by the lack of ideas, and talent, for movies.
