Nov. 28, 2004 Dan Rather took over as anchor for CBS evening news March 9th 1981 from Walter Cronkite. Since then Dan Rather has been seen by many as the good, the bad and they ugly. The Good Dan. Dan Rather informed us of current events for nearly a quarter century. His reporting has always been seen as straight forward with what he considered a bit of Texas humor. I lived in and traveled Texas for over ten years and I can’t say I ever heard any of Dan’s parables, [but that’s just me.] Dan first became known nationally for his reporting of the JFK assignation. Dan was on the air for hours feeding Walter Cronkite minutes by minute up- dates from Dallas Texas. Dan interviewed many of the world’s most despicable leaders at some personal risk, Saddam Hussein, Yasser Arafat, Fidel Castro and others. He went to Afghanistan in search of the Taliban during their war with Russia. He faced hurricanes and other disasters always with the intention of giving his audience the closest reporting of the facts as he saw them. Dan was a dedicated reporter first and an editor second. The Bad Dan. Over the past fifty years or more the news Media has had a bias to the left. Dan was and is on the far left edge of that bias. His reporting has more often than not favored liberalism over facts. Dan’s views have often been the basis for some Flower-child’s allegations the big bad world his beating up on some helpless sole. In interviews Dan used his power of the microphone to guide the interviewee to give answer Dan wanted. If the answer wasn’t what he wanted he would give the answer himself and force his guest to agree. This is a tactic used by all liberal interviewers. On more than one accusation Dan Rather created news then reported it. He refused to report several stories when the facts were there for the taking. Dan Rather and his fellow liberal reporters have pushed liberal politics to the edge of the earth where it now teeters ready to fall into the depths of space. I predict the final push will be Hillary’s 2008 run for the Presidency. [Once I believed Hillary could win now I have serious doubts.] The Ugly Dan. On more than one accusation Dan Rather attacked presidents while interviewing them. His personal attack on President George Bush senior during the fist Gulf War was unprecedented. In some countries he would have been charged with treason. As Dan grew in stature and advanced in age his obsession to create news grew and his reporting suffered. He wanted the world to see through his vision of how thing were. The bias that brought Dan down was his obvious hatred of President Bush II I see very little difference between Michael Moore and Dan Rather’s reporting of the presidents activities. Dan Rather became a hate monger of the worst kind. Liberalism is a mental illness that seems to destroy the mind. Like any cancer it leads to the total demise of those infected. It may not be fatal but eventually the afflicted begin ranting, raving and become uncontrollable. No pill shown on T V will cure this ailment. No HMO has a cure. Modern medicine has yet to find a way of dealing with liberalism. The only way to keep it from spreading is to surgically removing their microphones and let them wonder as old Walter is doing now. Occasionally someone asks for an opinion but mostly they just wonder around mumbling to themselves. Poor Dan is in the final stages of liberal dementia, Peter Jennings is next. Tom Brokaw saw it coming and escaped in time. Let us pray for all liberal reporters they may be saved Dan’s fate. ------------ Follow the Wit and Wisdom of Uncle Ken.
