Giving Thanks On Thanksgiving Day

By Judy Ramsook
Nov. 25, 2004

As I was contemplating what to write about today, I happened to glance across my room, and as I did so, I spied a ladybug outside my window screen trying to make its way to the top of the partition, but it was struggling.

Instead of climbing smoothly up the screen, the insect kept falling down to a lower portion of the device, but it did not give up. Time after time, the ladybug kept on trying to reach its objective, which made me ponder, some of us humans also do not give when times are rough, but we set out to achieve our achievements just like the ladybug does; that might be thankful to have the chance to be ascending a window screen just as we humans try to climb the ladder of life. And as this Thanksgiving day is upon us, I know many of us have much to be thankful for also, even as we still work our way up the ladder of life.

First of all, I would like to give thanks to the family members who have stayed by our sides during some of those turbulent times, for they are the ultimate adhesive that keeps us together by showing us how much they care and also the times when they might tell us the occassional joke just to bring a smile to our faces.

Second of all, I would like to thank those friends who have stuck by our sides as well and offered advice when needed. For it is with these friends whom we feel free to release a part of ourselves that no one else may see.

Also, since this has been the year that my first book has been published, I would like to thank PublishAmerica for placing my work in printed form, I truly appreciate it.

In addition, I would also like to thank the editor of this useless-knowledge forum for giving me the opportunity to air my views and concerns; although you may not be aware of it Mr. Editor, it does mean much to me, so to you all I wish a great day, on this Thanksgiving Day.

By the way, the ladybug did make it to the top of the outer portion of the window screen by the time this article had been completed.

Have A Great Day To All!!
