Nov. 24, 2004 I'm gratified to hear Dan Rather listened to me. I suggested in a recent article after the election he take a little time off the handle the stress. Little did I realize how much impact I'd made. As I recall, I believe I mentioned Rush Limbaugh as a possible replacement. Yeah, I know, Rush is a busy man and it would be too much to hope for him to want more on his plate. It seems Ted Koppell might also be getting ready to leave. Yeeesssss! Look, I guess I must be on a roll. (Hope it isn't onion, or Keiser.) Several other big time broadcasters seem to be getting out. I'm not even going to name all the names I've heard. I can only imagine the reservation desks at the cruise lines. Whoopi, Mickey Moore, don't wait until the last minute. Book early. Of course I realize I really can't take all the credit for this. I know there's a lot of tired psychologists out there who are giving the same advice. What you gonna do, right? PEB is a serious problem, I hear.(Post Election Blues) Look gang, I went through the same problem during the biggest part of the 90's and during the late 70's. Get over it. However, this is not about me. This is a big news story(ironicly)about Dan Rather. Thanks Dan. Hey, Dan, if it helps I once idealized you. Until you went over the edge four years ago. Since then you've ranted and raved. I think it's because of this we've seen evidence you've become senile. Dan, have you blinked lately? Okay, Dan, I promised I wouldn't crow and I wouldn't bash you. I'm happy for you. Granted this, of course, is a chance for you to quietly slip away. So, let's make the best of it. before you go I want to thank you. I know you chose March because that is when my birthday is. An early birthday present, right Dan? Well, Dan, I'll do you a good turn. I'll suggest someone to fill in. He's also busy at night, but I heard he's getting ready to step down from his job, too. With a little gentle persuasion you might be able to get him to come on early. He also has experience behind a desk. Of course I'm talking about Jay Leno. ------------ About the author: Lee Zelhart is a proud graduate of McKendree College in Lebanon, Illinois and the father of two teens (one of which will be getting married in the next couple of years, maybe sometime in 2006) and the author of The Ghost of the Cavalier due out in 2005.
