Protest The War?

By Amanda Baker
Nov. 10, 2004

There are somethings in this life that are interesting to read, I have found a site that is trying to organize protests against the conflict that is continuing in Iraq. Protest is a form of speach that is protected by the Constitution, but is it the right time for such speach?

First I will give the site for the curious, http://www.unitedforpeace.org/, then I will attempt to answer the question.

One of the protests organized for next week at Ft. Benning, Georgia, is to protest the current action that is happening in Iraq and protest the "School of Assasins". The protest is not right protesting the soldiers, the men who serve this country have an obligation to follow orders. They are not the ones responsible for this war. They are giving their lives daily for the right of the citizens to be able to protest.

I think the time to protest is when a person protests the politicians. I think the organizers of the protest are not focusing on where they should go to protest: Washington, D.C. Take the discontent for the war right to the homes of the men who wanted it.

There are many other interesting articles on this site, but I will let people look at it and devlope their own opinions. Until protesters turn their eyes on the politicians behind the war, nothing will be accomplished by protesting bases or soldiers.
