Nov. 9, 2004 What would the United States be like today, IF we had a truly unbiased press? For one thing, President Bush's victory last week would have been an utter landslide--something on the order of 65/35. If the American press had been dedicated to even-handedness and stuck strictly to the truth about both candidates, Senator Kerry would likely have withdrawn his candidacy LONG before the DNC's media show last Summer. I know, I know. The left believes fervently in the concept of "relative" truth. It's nonsense, of course, but widely believed by liberals in this country--including the American press corps and entertainment industry. Something either IS or it ISN'T. There are no "shades of grey" when it comes to truth. Either Senator Kerry IS a left-leaning liberal or he's NOT. If his true voting record over a 20-year career in the Senate had been carefully examined, there wouldn't have been the slightest doubt about which is true and which version of his record was made up for public consumption. If the press had DEMANDED to know the full extent of Kerry's military records and refused to report on his campaign until he revealed all, he wouldn't have been nominated--let alone come within 3.5 million votes of being the next Commander-in-Chief. If the press had told the TRUTH about what's been going on in Iraq instead of focusing entirely on casualties, suicide bombers and roadside ambushes by the enemy terrorists, the American people would have been MUCH better served. There may have been a time when the press DID serve the public interest by reporting facts in an unbiased manner, but that time was long before 1947 when the HUAC hearings were kick-started by the discovery of communist infiltration into the Department of State, Defense Department and even the entertainment industry. If the press had told the truth about Vietnam, for that matter, it would today be a unified, free, democratic country and not the communist-controlled hell-hole that it is. If the press had told the truth about the 2000 elections, for that matter, we would have probably been spared four years of sniping, hatred and obstructionism directed at the certified winner of that election. What would the country be like if the entertainment industry restricted itself to that- -entertainment--and stayed out of politics? We have some VERY talented actors who ACT like cretinous idiots every time there's an election on the horizon. Babs Streisand has a beautiful singing voice and about as much common sense as a frog. Michael Moore is an America-hating communist, yet is given a place of honor at the Democrat Convention next to Ex-President Carter. What would the convention have been like if the press had actually acknowledged his true nature and questioned the propriety of placing him in the seat of honor? What would the election have been like if the press had revealed that Kerry had a LOWER GPA than President Bush during their respective times in university? What would have happened if the press had reported the FACT that it had been necessary to RESTORE Kerry's military decorations in 1985 and asked why? There are dozens of "what-if's" about which we could speculate. Not the least of which is what if the Democrats had not engaged in massive voter registration fraud and even more massive VOTE fraud--allowing (even encouraging) ineligible people to vote--early and often. ------------ About the author: David A.
