Our Man

By Max Burns
Nov. 9, 2004

Nine months ago it all seemed sane
This political race I joined

We had a goal, a lead regained
A catchy slogan coined

Our record was good, our message hit home
The voters all came out

But My Man Mitch brought out that tome
“Indiana’s Budget Drought”

The crowds disappeared, the smiles faded
As Mitch took back the lead

We knew on the second, by ten at night

The polls had closed, Mitch was right

Our heads found hands, our spirits sunk

A thousand stickers in the trunk

A thousand bumpers all unused

Except for two, both on the van

To show poor Joe still had a fan

A lot of good it did.
