Nov. 9, 2004 Nine months ago it all seemed sane This political race I joined We had a goal, a lead regained A catchy slogan coined Our record was good, our message hit home The voters all came out But My Man Mitch brought out that tome “Indiana’s Budget Drought” The crowds disappeared, the smiles faded As Mitch took back the lead We knew on the second, by ten at night The polls had closed, Mitch was right Our heads found hands, our spirits sunk A thousand stickers in the trunk A thousand bumpers all unused Except for two, both on the van To show poor Joe still had a fan A lot of good it did. ------------ About the author: Max Burns is a 17-year-old Democrat with moderate, centrist ideals.
