Nov. 8, 2004 Yup, I'm human. And I am selfish. Since my last article where I admited voting for Kerry, and the reason why was because I don't agree with the war (but as an American I thought I have that right not to agree with the war) I did not expect the response I got. One kind reader, with logical responses, has tried to point out my flawed voting. I find it amusing because I can't change my vote and I have in my passed articles congradulated Bush for running a good campaign. I form my opinions the same way other people do, I watch T.V., listen to talk radio, read (books, newpapers, magazines, internet, etc.), and talk to people involved with what is going on in the world. I form my own opinions as each individual should. Christians, Muslims and Intellectuals come to conclusions in the same way. I wrote back explaining my point of view and how I came up with my responses. I also stated that I respect her point of view because as an American we have the right for that point of view because the brave men and women in the miltary fight to keep us free. The E-mails changed from the price of oil, to recruitment goals of the military, and then to loosing rights after the Two Towers fell in New York. This is where I discovered, by her pointing it out to me, that I am selfish. I knew that and I hope every person on this planet realizes that they are selfish too. We all want our rights not to be taken away. We all want our personal space not to be invaded. We all want our basic needs met and to live a comfortable life. So the next time that I have to get my bag searched, take my shoes off at the airport and feeling pretty revolted because I know this is being done because of a few men who don't like my rights as an American in the first place. I'll remeber that those feelings stem from me being selfish about loosing simple freedoms for other peoples need for piece of mind. But isn't that need selfish too? I admit I'm human. I'm selfish and proud of it. ------------ About the author: Being a full time writer is the hardest job that I have tried.
