May 28, 2005 Inspiration fills a saint up with a spirit that is visible to some people, but this energy doesn't show in photographs. Inspiration makes that person think, feel, and act in ways considered strange by persons who can't see this spiritual light. In his book "Cosmic Consciousness" the Canadian alienist Dr. Richard Maurice Bucke called this energy "subjective light." Modern psychiatrists and other determined skeptics call this light a fiction and a delusion, and they consider any person who reports seeing this light to be "out of touch with reality." In this circular reasoning they label the inspired person a "psychotic." Furthermore, by trying to cure each affected person with various treatments, conventional medical science blocks the sanctification process. What does a saint do? Well, a saint does one or more things that professional scientists and other reputable persons consider impossible to do because they can't even imagine performing such feats. For example, some saints show their disciples the "subjective light" by gazing directly into their eyes for several minutes and causing them to see the brightness of their own mystical vision. The disciples report seeing this brightness and feeling the special Presence that mystics identify as God. This rather sudden sensitization of disciples has been reported by the followers of different recognized spiritual teachers, including Gangaji, Adi Da, Phil Servedio, and Benjamin Creme. But what credibility does such a blind person warrant? When persons are blind, they simply can't see. Moreover, when a child sees auras around people, parents, educators, and doctors become concerned. Perhaps all these adults are totally blind to the "subjective light," but they are arrogantly presumptuous in the face of their own disability. Furthermore, in prescribing pills or other treatments for a "psychosis," thousands of doctors keep disabling millions of children who could otherwise be trained to do seemingly "impossible" things. In fact this new "messianic" science might be exactly what is required to render the human race safe, sane, and sanctified. Consider what it’s like to not see colors at all. Such people accept that they are color-blind. They know how to be humble. For some reason, it's impossible for the skeptics to be humble in the presence of saints. Moreover, conventional psychologists and psychiatrists are not humble in the presence of a “holy” child who sees in the way a mystic sees. The child is labeled "ill" rather than "holy" or "inspired." As was bloodletting in the Middle Ages, this is a dangerous and deadly wrong turn being made by medical scientists today. When inspiration isn't clearly understood, millions of children are treated so that they can’t ever mature into inspired persons. A few of these persons manage to more or less control the process that other people can't control at all. This rarely happens, however, because the inspiration process is difficult to manage. Sometimes the inspired person gains a following but then loses control because there isn’t yet really a science of this process. For example, in the cases of Jim Jones and Adolf Hitler a great many persons suffered as well as the suffering semi-master "false Messiah" who never understood and mastered this mysterious process. Why not? Because there was no clear and verifiable understanding of the inspiration process! So to prevent the rise of other so-called “inspired leaders” who aren't really masters, what must modern societies do? This is a no-brainer. The answer is be scientific. To study a burning candle you don't blow it out or hide it under a bushel. ------------ About the author: John L.
