Some Memorable High School Moments

By Judy Ramsook
May 28, 2005

Sometimes some of us reminisce about memorable high school moments that now make you laugh to yourself as you take a stroll down that lane in the not too distant past. Here are just a few things that were said to me while in class or out taking a leisurely walk with a classmate on the street outside the school grounds, or things that I heard in passing during study period.

Girl, he was looking at you like “winking blinking and nod” a comment that still makes me laugh, nursery rhyme reference and all.

On the existence or lack thereof of a supreme being, how do you know, were you there?

Just think, when we are finished with high school, we’re going to have to get jobs, where are we going to find all these jobs? Will there be enough of them for us?

This is something you English and West Indian folks might be more familiar with. A student a couple of rows behind me is trying hard not to let her metallic geometry set fall to the floor, and when the whole class is silent, she loses the battle and there goes the set, falling to the ground with a loud crash. ‘I tried to prevent that from falling, but….’

Watching a classmate imitate the way someone walks. It makes you laugh so hard that you end up running in the direction of the restroom uttering: ‘Okay that is really funny,’

In English class one classmate whispers to me, ‘hey Judy, is it preposition or proposition?’ Later that night as I curled up for a night of sleep, I laughed to myself.

He said he wants me to be his girlfriend, but I don’t know if I can handle school work and a boyfriend at the same time, what should I do?

We all have fond memories of places we have spent a considerable amount of our time, but the ones worth remembering are the good ones.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend, drive safely and don’t forget to buckle up.
