A Happy People Means A Happy Nation

By Judy Ramsook
May 26, 2005

Imagine this. You are growing up in a society in which there is no dishwasher compatible kitchen, the only people who can afford a clothes washer/dryer are the ones whose income bracket you only dream about, the only decent job you can acquire is the one that requires you or someone you know to give you a recommendation. It can be frustrating, but all the degrees and experience you have mean nothing in societies that will not give you a chance if the company you want to work for does not know you or about you.

Break out of your little world and take a trip to the US where you are amazed to see how progressive it is. Most people’s homes are equipped with dishwashing machines, if you cannot afford to purchase a top of the line washer/dryer, there are ones that are affordable, and if you are persistent enough and have the necessary qualifications, someone will hire you if they need someone to fill a position.

And if you don’t know how to do something on the job, just ask, someone will be only too willing to teach you, for in this progressive society that is America, it was learned years ago that when you succeed, they succeed too. The difference?

The government that keeps its people in a state of contentment is the one that will prevail, for some country leaders are too selfish or they just have not figured out how to keep their people happy. Think about it.

If you cannot afford a washer and do not have adequate transportation to take you to a public washer/dryer facility and walking the two or three long blocks, ( a bagful of dirty laundry in tow) to get to one may seem like too much of a problem, what you might feel is a little frustration.

If you’re good at what you do and meet the necessary educational requirements, and still cannot get someone to hire you on your own merit, that might present a little annoyance also. Not to mention the setback it will present for your self esteem and confidence. For what if you don’t know someone who knows someone else in the company with which you are trying to get a job. America’s founding fathers have had the right idea all along.

Keep your people happy and what you will have is a productive, progressive nation, for in a country as versatile as this, if you have a job, you can acquire things, things that will leave you feeling fulfilled, and if you want more you may have that too when your career progresses.

And the happier you are, the better your on the job performance will be. For if thousands of people like you are happy, so are your bosses, customers, clients and so on, for nothing succeeds like progress and production.
