May 25, 2005 We've all heard the line, it goes something like this: Liberal states are wealthier, better educated, and just all around better places to live. The technical term for this theory is hogwash. The lefts propaganda has the more conservative states as being places awash in high school dropouts who work at the Kwik E Mart and burn crosses in their free time. While the liberal states are urban, sophisticated etc. They even go with the idea that left wing ideas about the economy must be correct because states with those policies have a higher income level than "red" states. (Apparently it never occurred to the left that its that way because higher taxes in liberal states drives out a lot of people who can't afford them), Then I stumbled across something interesting. Forbes magazine listed its top ten cities to start a business or a career. Nowhere on the list are leftwing havens, and left wing models like New York, San Francisco, Chicago, or the epitome of left wing policies, Detroit. I guess I don't have to describe the list, it's fairly self explanatory. So here it is. 1. Boise, ID 2. Raleigh-Duram, NC 3. Austin, TX 4. Washington D.C. and Northern VA 5. Albeuquerque, NM 6. Huntsville, Ala 7. Fayettville, Ark 8. Norfolk, VA 9. Atlanta, GA 10. Madison, WI Notice something? All but two of these cities are in "red" states. A note on the other two. When looking at heavily democratic DC alone it's economy is anemic and has an unemployment rate of 7.1% only when it is combined with Virginia does its statistics improve. I will grant that Madison is in a "blue" state and is a very left wing city, but it is tenth on the list. And as an aside more and more evidence points that Bush should have won Wisconsin. Tire slashing and felon voting put Kerry over the top. So we can reach the conclusion that conservative ideas on the economy, lower taxes, lower business costs, (Albeuquerques costs are 27% below the national average) and enacting policies that bring businesses and doesn't chase them away. Seeing this do you think the democrats, and left wingers will get over themselves anytime soon? Nah, I didn't think so. ------------ About the author: Craig Chamberlain has written more than 100 articles for Useless-Knowledge.com.
