May 24, 2005 Where Have All The Flowers Gone Written by: Pete Seeger Performed by: Peter, Paul, and Mary Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing? Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago? Where have all the flowers gone? Young girls have picked them everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing? Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago? Where have all the young girls gone? Gone for husbands everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the husbands gone, long time passing? Where have all the husbands gone, long time ago? Where have all the husbands gone? Gone for soldiers everyone Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing? Where have all the soldiers gone, long time ago? Where have all the soldiers gone? Gone to graveyards, everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing? Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago? Where have all the graveyards gone? Gone to flowers, everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing? Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago? Where have all the flowers gone? Young girls have picked them everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn?
This anthem of the 1960s rings clear today; the story never changes. War brings death to innocent people and war brings death to the very young and the very strong. Some folks would like to justify our war in the name of freedom. They want to hide behind the mask of deceit. Clearly, we were deceived into a war and clearly some of our very best have died because of deception. Politics aside, we were lied to, and shame on us for reelecting a man no better than the enemies he hunts. Shame on us for using God as a reason for following the leadership of an ungodly man.
