Mar. 29, 2005 Have you ever wondered why we have special things we wear. Talsimans, rings, any old trinkets under the sun can serve for good luck charms. I wonder if they really work. I've known people who swear by their lucky talsimans. And I just thought of something! What ever became of all those lucky rabbit's feet people used to have? I've not seen one in ages. I suppose they are in rabbit's foot heaven somewhere. I would say that almost everyone has a talsiman or two. I would also suggest that people are perhaps more attached to them than they'd care to admit. Personally, I like learning about lucky charms because they are so interesting and unique. There is always say, dear aunt Edna's necklace or ring that she passed on to a special neice or something. Thats pretty normal. Then there are cheesy ones, like the rabbits foot, or lucky dice. But there is another category, and that would include interestingly 'adopted' talismans. These could include things like a lucky rock found at a cottage, or a shell found on the beach during vacation that just felt like good luck to its owner. I was once sitting on a bench in a mall that had trees in it. Beside me I noticed a leaf that had some holes in it and this made it look like a ghost. I've kept it in a book ever since.
