Mar. 28, 2005 Fashion. What is fashion? I guess the fashion people know 'what is fashion.' They would know plenty about it. But to me, though some fashion seems amazingly artful, most of it seems like a bore. Too polished. Not enough soul coming through. The lonely guy or gal down at the laundrymat has more fashion than I've seen on those runway shows. That begs the question. What is more important; fashion or individuality? As I see it there is a trick involved here. Fashion, on the surface, would seem to denote that an individual has something cutting edge about them. Not true. Thats just what they want you to think. Fashion is a just conformity. Its actually the opposite of being unique. Trendy people are changing, to be sure, but changing in accordance with a diet of clothing or whatever that is being fed to them by someone else. Fashion fashion fashion fashion... It can also become quite ridiculous. Like who would wear that stuff they show on those runways? What a world that fashion world must be! The saying that the very rich and the very poor are often a bit crazed might be apt when thinking of them. One day I saw a lady with a peacock for a hat and fur shoes!
