Mar. 28, 2005 Springtime is here, and my entire being has been changed. I love the spring. There is so much to look forward to in this season. Baseball; gardening; sunshine; barbeques with family, friends and neighbours; and time spent with the ones you love. Birds sing you the praises of the morning. Childrens laughter fills your heart with happiness. Sunshine warms you to the core. Being alive means everything. Spring is a time of growth and renewal. Everything seems rejuvenated in the spring. Baseball season is the beginning of spring, and there is no better way to initiate the season than batting a few balls around a field with some friends. Baseball is the unofficial kick-off to socializing with friends. There is something about sitting around, drinking a few beers, and soaking in the stories of the past winter with friends that leaves people feeling content and relaxed. Hitting a few balls, and running a few bases will help beat the past winter blues as well. There is something about hitting that ball into the outfield for the first time in a year that gives a person a sense of exhilaration towards the upcoming season. Gardening is the one objective during spring that gives people a purpose. There is something about planting new spring bulbs in the ground that helps us to realize undeniable beauty. Gardening, itself, is dirty, messy, and a chore, but the journey leads to a wonderful destination. Growth of our labour is what matters most in the end. There is a sense of satisfaction, and knowing that our hard work has paid off. It leads us to believe that renewal is a constant transformation, and something that we can look forward to, regardless of all else in life. It is not only genealogical growth, but personal growth as well. Spending time enjoying the elements of the season with family, friends, and neighbours is the most important component of spring. Barbecues, sunshine, smiling faces, and laughter are the precedents of this wonderful season that match no other. Smelling the charcoal from the barbeque is not something that winter could handle. Feeling the warmth of the sun is a prerequisite to feeling strong and healthy for the rest of the year. Seeing faces that you may not have seen for a few months during winter makes up for their absences. Hearing the laughter of children playing volleyball in the backyard sends feeling of joy to the core of ones being. In the evenings, as everyone sits around the crackling of the fire, the stars shine so bright, there is no need for unnatural light. The stars are enough to light up the soul. Springtime is time for the new. It is the celebratory event that rings in the summer. All the elements of spring work together in perfect harmony to bring together the upcoming summer, and creates fresh new things to come. A new season, a new growth, a new you. It is a time to stop and smell the roses. Life seems so right in spring. ------------ About the author: Traci has been an aspiring writer ever since she can remember.
