Mar. 18, 2005 Let me start this writing with a few words to Mr. Keyes and to Mr. Toomaloo. This debate could go on and on forever. I think you both have really said your part. Let the people chew on it and decide for themselves. Skip, you are steadfast in your beliefs as is Mr. Keyes. Nothing wrong with that on either side. Agree to disagree and move on. Both of you seem to be quite intelligent in your own places. Lets see some of that intelligience in a few other places. There are about a million issues still to be written and debated and read. As a side-note, I would like to say that Mr. Keyes comments concerning Ellen Parker's write showed a perhaps less intelligent side. They were cruel and cutting and totally uncalled for. She was merely writing her heart and whether You or I or anyone else saw it as something to debate, it was simply an article with no danger of destroying anything any of us feel or believe. I have always been taught that if an animal feels threatened, they will bring out any means they have to fight and protect themselves. Sometimes we show ourselves to be little more than animals that walk upright. You sir, brought out claws when you didn't even need them. If you don't like something here, just say so. You need not attack anyone and accuse them of being old, menapausel, a drunk, a weed smoker, or a denture wearer. These comments only go to make yourself look small and threatened by something so simply as a womans thoughts. You talk of your love for flowers? Perhaps you should send this young lady some roses and an apoligy for the not so very nice comments you made about her. I don't know anything about this woman, but I do know that she did nothing to deserve your cruel comments. Now then, in reading about the money that exchanges hands at a high level{higher I might add then I will ever see} I could not agree with Stans writing more. The knowledge that my dog and cat's live better than most third world countries is a frightening thought. The Bill Gates of this country could pay off all of our debts and still be richer than most of us. If you take away the millions from the richest people in the country, with-in ten years they will be rich again. Because they are smarter than you and I? I don't believe that to be the reason. They simply have the mindset to go forward and mow what ever grass needs mowing, without thought of whether a homeless man is sleeping in that grass or not. Stopping to move him might cost the rich a dime or two. Shame on me for even entertaining the idea. It is about their motives, not their brains. And as for our motives, you hit it right on the head again, Stan. I am reminded of President Johnson, when out of the goodness of his heart??? offered to rebuild Viet-nam for them. It didn't hurt that he owned the major construction company's that were sent to "help" the Vietnamese out of a mess "we" caused. Our country has always flurished during another countries demise. More jobs to make ammo. More money to buy arms. More people working so that we can assure the best for the country we are invading. Hmmm??? Few rich people do things because it will benefit others. It normally comes back to them in the form of money, property or power. Don't get me wrong, I am a shhhhh, Republican... but I am not a blind man. I too see that we may have alterior motives to liberating and bringing democracy to our foriegn victory, if we even dare call it that. If we are still losing even one family member or friend a day, then we have not won the right to call it a vitory. But that is another story all together. Simply said, He {Stan} said it right.
