Mar. 12, 2005 I sit here shaking my head at the articles written here at times. Some surprise me, some entertain me, some educate me and others...? Hmmmmmm??? Others fascinate me. Why? Let's start with the chronicals of bible names. As much time as was spent looking in the bible for the list of this one begat that one etc... One might have thought that the important part was not skipped. No, Joseph was not Jesus' biological father {though I fail to see why such importance was put on this by one who doesn't believe anyways}. Hmmmmm? Fascinating! "Mary" was of the Levi tribe and the linage that was needed to bear Jesus. Joseph served the purpose of taking Mary where she needed to go and being her helpmate. Mary was also of the house of King Davids linage. As for myself and other Christians not having to give an explanation, perhaps you just haven't asked the right Christians. Tracing my family tree back 1000 years? Adam was the first man and therefore I have traced my tree back a lot further than 1000 years. As for the ten commandments... It is absolutely true that even if you are a non believer, they are good laws to follow. Again I see another athiest with a great deal of knowledge of a book he does not believe is real anyways. Hmm? Fascinating! How you believe is absolutely your own choice and I will not try to say differently. You don't answer to me and if you are right,you don't have to answer to anyone ever. But ummm what if!??? In the mention of babies being born into sin... Again,a lot of knowledge from a non-believer. I am more fascinated all the time. The purpose of the belief that babies or born into sin is as follows through today. If your father is a convicted killer or rapist or a commitor of not so nice acts, then you as a child are labeled from the start. The only way that you will convince the world you are not like your father is to shed a lot of sweat and blood to show you are a good man. The same is said for the new born. He bears his fathers sin or reputation for his father partaking of the forbidden fruit. And the bible says "and God saw that it was "GOOD". Not perfect... Therefore though we were created in his "image", we were not created perfect. As for the blood sacrifice, blood is the very life of man,so the scriptures say that we are to lay down our lives for our Father God. As for the statements of his being barbaric and needing blood because he is in short supply...you speak freely of someone that you do not see in front of you. Backstabbers speak as freely when the back they are stabbing is not in front of them. but, what if you are wrong... Oops! That Jesus was beaten and crucified for my sins that I no longer had to shed my blood to be forgiven makes perfect sense to me. Would you not jump in front of a truck to push your wife or child to safety so they did not have to die? This is what Jesus did for us. Why? Because he loved his father in Heaven and he loved us and he died for us so that we could live. What part of giving your life for your brother or sister aren't you understanding? ;) Jesus came down to earth to die for us and the purpose of his "human" life being given for our spiritual man to live eternally was to show us up close and personal. Since we "humans" have a hard time accepting things unless it slaps us in the face. As for the ummmm truth being scarey! Yea, my friend...it is, because God is God and Christ is Christ and he will come back one day. Perhaps you will miss him though. He says "My sheep shall know my voice." Are you as sure that he ISN'T coming back as I am that he IS??? I hope so. To the person that thinks it is o.k. and safe to refer to God in any other name then God and his umm was that "song" Jesus? As Jesus said it... "you say it and yet you do not understand." I am NOT the light of the world nor am I THE WAY. That would be Jesus and no true christian would profess to be either. And of course we took with us some beliefs from the Jewish people. We took a little from everyone. Why? Because every christian knows that we are not ALL right and that we don't have ALL the answers. If we did, we wouldn't be here anymore. It takes a many membered body of people to come together, {that is Catholics, Jewish, Pentecostal, Lutheren, Mormons and all others}, to fully understand the true word of God. We even need athiests because without the non believers, how do we learn of the beliefs of the world and where we are in our walk of faith. Everyone serves a purpose if we take what they have to offer and place it in it's rightful spot. I can't learn right from wrong if I never know what wrong is or what right is. As for athiests needing to be more aggressive and less fearful of their beliefs. Why are they fearful? God doesn't exist,there is no heaven nor a hell. There is no eternal life nor eternal damnation. So why are 9 million of them keeping a low profile??? hmmmmmmmmmm!???? THAT fascinates me... I say,"Come on out." It is better that I know who is and who isn't because you have spoken one great truth and each of you has said it in your own way. You should come to believe of your own free will. Not forced or shoved into it. God gave us a mind so that we COULD make that choice willingly. He doesn't want you to come to him because you are afraid. He wants you to come to him because you love him and want to come to him. I have not tried to spoon feed you anything here. I have done what each of you have done. Spoken my thoughts aloud. If I saw any of you on the streets I would not turn away from you. You are my brothers and sisters and I would reach out my hand to save you as I believe you would do for me. Besides, as somewhat of a scholar concerning the scriptures, I am as you know now, FASCINATED by the many different aspects of believing...
