Mar. 1, 2005 I recently read An Angry Wrestling Fan’s so- called “article” about my article regarding WrestleMania. While I did make a critical mistake regarding Chris Jericho, and I am a bit shocked and somewhat excited about Hogan and Austin being at WrestleMania, it is still not worth the price or the time to watch it, even if it was free I would only watch it for Steve Austin, but ONLY if it was free. Let me enlighten you on what I mean by “losing sales” I’m not literally referring to the fact that the WWE isn’t drawing in crowds; however, we know that drawing in crowds is just part of the revenue, it isn’t the entire capital collection. ECW sold out pay-per-views, house shows, tv shows, anywhere they went they sold out every time, but they still went bankrupt. Therefore, it doesn’t matter if the shows are sold out or not, it still doesn’t defeat the idea of the WWE losing money. The main loss for the WWE is mostly in merchandise. Why? Simple, Vince McMahon had this “brilliant” idea of splitting the two shows, Smackdown and Raw. While I believe this was a good idea when it comes to exposure to big names like Kurt Angle, Undertaker, and Triple H, not to mention it gives the new guys a chance to shine; however, Vince failed to realize is that when you split the two shows apart you lose star power. If you look on Raw, who is the top guy? Triple H. Can you name another top guy? Benoit? Jericho? If you say Orton, you’re an idiot, because Randy Orton is what I like to call, “the flavor of the month.” I hate to say it, but Batista will be the same way as Orton, because he’ll win at WrestleMania, keep the belt for maybe a month or two and Triple H will get it back. Which leads to my next argument about why the WWE is losing money. Triple H. Enough said. While I think Triple H is a great wrestler, both performing and athletically, Triple H has literally made wrestling “fake” again. Like Jeff Jarrett, like Hulk Hogan, like Bret Hart, like Shawn Michaels, and like Ric Flair, Triple H is another champion who doesn’t want to let go of the spotlight; therefore, because he is married into the family, it is no surprise that Triple H is always the champion. However, what really angers a lot of fans is the secret plan he has up his sleeve regarding the world heavyweight title. As any fan of wrestling knows Ric Flair is the 16 time world champion, he has held it more times than anyone; however, those were back in the days when fans looked at wrestling as “real.” Now, Triple H wants to be “the man” that holds the record; however, no fan is buying it, because every fan has come to the conclusion that professional wrestling is an act, it’s fake, it’s a show. Therefore, when Triple H finally breaks Ric Flair’s record, and he will, will anyone care? Nope. I believe Vince is trying to fool the fans, rather then stick by his motto, “it’s all about what the fans want.” Obviously not, because if the fans had it their way, Triple H would never be champion again. Instead, the fans would want a Jericho or a Benoit or an Edge to be world champion, but nope, it always comes back to Triple H. While he is a good showman, I believe that the only reason why he is champion all the time is because he’s married into the company, not because he is “that damn good.” Trust me, Triple H, I’ve seen better. To be honest, I would like to see Eugene turn heel, and stop with the “retard” gimmick. I hope Vince doesn’t get it in his head that he is the ONLY wrestling company on the market. While TNA has some decent wrestlers like AJ Styles, they are still not good enough to dethrone the WWE, and the reason being is that Double J, Jeff Jarrett, is no different that Triple H. I think the problem with wrestling nowadays is simple. There is NO variety anymore. I remember when professional wrestling fans had a choice, especially on Monday’s. If you didn’t want to watch Triple H vs. Goldust for the 43rd time, you could watch the nWo take out the 4 horseman. On Friday’s you could watch ECW with Joey Styles screaming “OH MY GOD!” while Tommy Dreamer was “Prime Time Slammed” through 3 tables. Or watch Taz actually become a “suplex machine” rather than a wimpy color commentator. Despite Taz being an excellent color commentator, I’d rather see the man wrestle; however, I’m sure there is a reason why he isn’t wrestling with all due respect to Taz. I remember when Raven was a main event wrestler, now he’s wearing a skirt looking like a ripoff of Adam Ant and getting beat all the time. I remember when Shane Douglas had the guts to go out and besmirch the name of NWA by throwing their world title and telling them to kiss his “butt”, now he’s doing interviews with NWA wrestlers. What happened to the Franchise? I guess the Franchise got debunked. Yeah, the NWA can kiss your butt, huh Shane? Now you’re kissing theirs. Why don’t you work for the WWE again as Dean Douglas and teach us a lesson, a lesson on how to be a hypocrite. The point is this, professional wrestling sucks today for one reason, lack of courage. Vince lost his courage when he won the Monday night wars, there was no reason for Vince to be competitive anymore, which I think is a load of crap. Now Vince is making movies. That is a complete joke. Listen Vince, before you start with any movie productions just think about three simple letters.
