We Are All Entitled To Our Opinions About Natalee Holloway

By Jacqueline Burnham
June 29, 2005

Below is an e mail of support that I sent to Mr. Reyes in reference to some of his essays that I have read.

We are all entitled to our opinions, that is the greatest thing about the USA!

And although I may not agree with all opinions out there, in the newspapers, online, or wherever, I will defend the right for them to be expressed.

When one comes across an editorial you don't agree with, it is easy to bash the author.

But instead, why not use it as an opportunity to communicate with each other and try to understand their viewpoint. You might just learn something about the other guy, and yourself.

Dear Mr. Reyes-

Believe me, I feel bad for the family too but I get your point, and I agree with you.

All missing person's cases are tragic and the media will only focus on missing white females. (which I am one of. Well not the missing part)

Every once in a while they will fit in a blurb at the end of the news show and flash a picture of a missing person who does not fit the stereotype. But that's about it.

My heart goes out to Natalee Holloway and her family, that is a given.

But you are correct that it does not make it a national tragedy.

Oh, and paying the runaway bride ½ mil for her story? Don't even get me started on that one.

Best Regards and keep writing what you feel-
