June 27, 2005 So you’ve been invited to yet another birthday party and as you set about the business of purchasing a gift for the birthday person you turn to your mate and ask, should we wrap it or get a gift bag? When that little debate is settled you go home to wrap the present after hunting for the scissors and transparent tape. And as you settle down to cutting the wrapping paper to suit the size of the gift you ponder, maybe we should have just bought a gift bag instead. Now there are some people who are perfect at gift wrapping. You know, they cut the wrapping paper without leaving jagged edges or uneven indentations and then comes the actual wrapping of the gift. It has been done so well that you wonder why you have not been able to master that little craft, for no matter how many times you have tried, your gift wrapping skills leave much to be desired. You know, like when you do do the wrapping, maybe you did not cut the paper the way it should have been cut and as for the wrapping? The corners were not smooth and perfectly done, at which point you are about to scream in frustration. So it’s a good thing there is an alternative like the gift bag, because if you have been wrapping gifts in an imperfect way for some time, your circle of friends will know that the present that is not wrapped properly is from you. And now when you present that gift in the bag looking neat and proper, your friend may be a little surprised knowing that this time you didn’t bother with the wrap you have not mastered. So when the party winds down, and you leave not feeling embarrassed as you would have, had you wrapped the gift, you wonder, now why didn’t I think of the gift bag before? ------------ About the author Judy Ramsook: My first book titled: "Karen's Adventure" which is about two young girls who go in search of their missing parents, is now available.
