The Little Boat

By Brian Michael Barbeito
June 26, 2005

The passengers on the little boat were smitten. They smiled as the boat driver drove the through waterways that showed many pleasant sights. There were swaying trees and some ducks that floated by. There were other boats too, and as two boats passed one another everybody would wave. There was a a Heron and some Canadian Geese that walked around on the shores. It was dusk and the temperatures were comfortable for such a journey. The boat contained three persons and the driver. They wore light clothing and comfortable shoes. On the public beach there was a snack bar that served french fries, ice cream, and various cold drinks. Sunworshippers were packing up for the day and the figures of people could been seen shaking out sand from towels, gathering up this sandal or that cooler. The passengers on the boat had forgotten most of their worldly troubles during the boat ride. The troubles that did come to mind seemed more tolerable than normal and less pressing. The boat riders felt like such a relaxing journey would inevitably lead to a grand and satisfying night. It did indeed. They talked and laughed through the evening hours after arriving back and docking the boat. The boat had done well and tied up and empty for the night, swayed back and forth a little in the water. Above and around the vast and thick summer night provided some cricket song.
