Natalee Holloway: Sometimes Knowing You Are Loved Can Save The Day

By Judy Ramsook
June 26, 2005

Natalee Holloway, a young girl on the brink of adulthood, who went to the friendly, Caribbean nation of Aruba to celebrate an end to her high school days is still missing.

It is a story that is difficult to put out of your mind, especially if you happen to have and love a daughter, niece or grand daughter of the same age. And as you ponder about the latest news reports surrounding the case, you wonder, how do you save someone from the harsh realities of bad incidents?

When you are home with your young daughter, or baby sitting your niece or grand daughter do you accompany her to the outdoors if she wants to play outside or even do you a favour by checking your mail box? And if you are not watching her, and she does not return promptly, you know, taking it for granted that she will run into the house any second, do you step up to the window or door to see where she is?

If you do, then you are a caring individual who is looking out for the young one in your midst. And if she does return to you, you are happy, but if you realise that she is nowhere to be found, you begin to panic. It is at this point your thoughts are not too clear, for panic has a way of overtaking all else.

But one of the things you can do is let that young kin of yours know how much you love her, for that can be the difference between having the physical strength and will to survive an abduction or returning safely if she happened to willingly go off on her own.

If someone goes off on her own and she knows she is not loved by family members, she might not have a reason to want to return to that family. And if she has been abducted and knows she is not loved, self pity takes over and it is then she might think that her presence among her family may not be missed. So tell that daughter, niece or grand daughter and show her that you love her as often as possible.
