June 20, 2005 Senator Dodd said the other day that if President Bush appoints John Bolton as U.S Ambassador to the U.N. he would be sending someone: “who lacks the confidence of the United States Senate." That, he said, would "cripple" Bolton as he goes to the world body and damage his standing with the Senate.” (SEE: FOXnews.com – “Senate Inaction Could Lead to Recess Appointment of Bolton 6/20) Yet, Senator Dodd, Senator Biden and other liberal Democrat senators are refusing to end the filibuster against the President’s nominee and let the Senate show just how little confidence it has in Bolton. What is Dodd and the other liberals afraid of? My personal opinion is that they are afraid of success. They must not permit President Bush an appointee that will be dedicated enough to reforming the U.N that he actually will succeed in doing so. This is as with everything the President has tried to accomplish. He has tried to curb judicial activism by appointing judges that know what the term “Separation of Powers” means. He has tried to curb U.N. corruption and anti-Americanism by appointing someone who won’t roll over and play dead when Kofi Annan tries to decide what’s good for America. Liberals cannot allow President Bush to succeed anywhere. Not in Energy; not in Diplomacy; not in Warfighting; and not in Domestic Policy. It is as the President said in his speech the other day, the Democrat party policy is the policy of a “stop sign”. (SEE: “Bush hits Democratic “agenda of the roadblock” Wash. Times 6/15) When President Bush was elected, he was elected based on certain promises he’d made to the people concerning reforms to domestic policies. The tragedy of 9/11 upended the hope of any quick fixes domestically, as attention had to be rightfully diverted to the protection of America’s citizens from the scourge of radical Islamism. It was an incredible transformation of priority that has kept America safe since that first tragic day. Yet, the safety of America has had to be emplaced despite opposition and obstructionism from the liberal side of the government. Liberal hatred for a successful and highly popular President has turned the American brand of liberalism into a hateful and vile little group of malcontents; all screaming for resignations and impeachment. Yet, the liberals cannot understand how President Bush could win reelection with six million more votes than their perfect candidate. Liberals aren’t just afraid of Conservative success. They very greatly fear conservative morality. A couple of weeks ago “American Atheists” sponsored an “All Atheists Weekend rally to discuss their fear concerning what seems to them to be an increase in Christian activity in government functions. They said it is time to “push back” because Christians “scare hell out of them.” (SEE: AP “Atheists vow to fight faith-based governing” by Greg Sandoval) The whole argument is bogus. The President doesn’t call for a Christian America. He does call for a moral America, and that really should be the goal whether you believe in a god or not. Here, try these statistics: “Here are some sobering statistics: According to the CDC, DoJ, DHHS and the Bureau of the Census, 63% of teen suicides, 70% of juveniles in state-operated institutions, 71% of high-school dropouts, 75% of children in chemical-abuse centers, 80% of rapists, 85% of youths in prison, 85% of children who exhibit behavioral disorders, and 90% of homeless and runaway children are children from fatherless homes. In fact, children born to unwed mothers are ten times more likely to live in poverty as children with fathers in the home.” FROM: “Fatherless in America” by Mark Alexander, Townhall.com. It seems if we could just get these irresponsible men to own up to the families they create we might be able to curb some of this immorality and civil strife. Yes, yes, I know. Many of these children probably come from so-called “Christian” homes. And don’t even try to tell me that none of these children are a result of humanism’s brand of “just do it” philosophy. The policies of the welfare state have brought the nation very close to collapse from within. Greater taxation and more giveaways is not an answer to the problems of America. We might ask Hillary Clinton her solutions to America’s problems, but she has resorted to keeping the press out of certain fundraising events because she is afraid that her true agenda of expanded socialism will turn the nation against her “Pretty in Pink” image. (SEE: No Clear Answer on Who Closed Event to Media – Buffalo News 6/14) The rest of the liberal hierarchy is hiding behind the rhetoric and personal slander of Howard Dean, John Conyers, Joe Biden, and Dick Durbin, among others. Robert Byrd has written another book to rehash his life with the KKK; reminding us that his group didn’t hate anyone and he was really one of the more tolerant members of the KKK. (SEE: “Sen. Byrd discusses his Klan background” 6/20) And I believe all that. I said it before. Bolton should be given his shot. If he fails, the left can have their field day destroying President Bush for a lousy selection. If he succeeds; the U.N. will be on a path to reform. What could be bad about that? Liberal fear is no reason to keep qualified nominees from doing jobs important for American security and diplomacy. ------------ About the Author: Michael John McCrae has contributed over 300 articles to Useless-Knowledge.com.
