July 30, 2005 I noted earlier, in the July 16th piece, that some Islamic leaders had spoken out against terrorism. I also pointd out that the Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, had been rather weasely from the start and more interested in covering the butts of muslims in general than in condemning terrorism. It appears they have been eating their criticism but halving it too. That is, perhaps I was fooled. Perhaps they are still in the CYA mode. Some of those Islamic leaders currently making statements which appear to condemn terrorism are the same leaders who were more or less openly sympathizing with jihadists not so long ago, and many of them are or have been affiliated with the CAIR weasels. http://www.investigativeproject.org/FCNA-CAIR.html http://counterterror.typepad.com/the_counterterrorism_blog/2005/07/the_american_is.html All this means is that we should not accept too uncritically the news we wish to be true. Perhaps the Islamic folk here are more peaceful and less pro-terrorist than those of London--or perhaps not. Maybe they are just better at camouflage and propaganda and have better public relations staff. Heck, maybe they lie better. Were the former statements praising those fighting the Great Satan, the USA, their true sentiments, or have they had a change of heart? Only time will tell. We'll have to see how many terrorist cells are turned in to the FBI by good, peaceful muslims in the near future. ------------ About the author Brooks A.
