July 30, 2005 When Latoyia Figueroa was just a tot her mother, Ann Taylor, was found dead on the mean streets of Philadelphia with her throat slashed. The death of Ann Taylor did not receive a lot of media attention, it was just one of scores of murders that take place in major cities like Philadelphia every year. Latoyia Figueroa, under the care and guidance of her father, grew up to be a beautiful and charming young lady. But tragedy has once again struck the Figueroa family, Latoyia, now 24, five months' pregnant and the mother of a 7-year-old girl, has been missing nearly two weeks. Latoyia's mom died without the world taking notice, but Latoyia's disappearance is receiving attention from bloggers and Internet columnists, who are determined to shame the mass media into covering her story. I'm happy to report that the bloggers have shamed CNN, MSNBC and FOX News into giving Latoyia's plight some attention.
