July 29, 2005 The first time I played a Mario Bros. game was was back in the early nineties as it was a good distraction from all the college assignments and related activities. And although it took a few tries to master the running and jumping skills Mario and Luigi needed to achieve their objective; this was normally rescuing Princess Peach from her dilemna, she was usually being kidnapped by Bowser. Filled with eight bit graphics on the first Nintendo system, you had no idea that today all that would be greatly improved to cartoon like characters and clear images such as you would find in the GBA/DS Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga. Even though it’s been out since 2003 and involves once again rescuing Princess Peach from another dilemna, it’s still a great game. This time the Princess’s voice has been stolen and replaced with an explosive vocabulary, literally. When she speaks, an explosion can occur, making it difficult for Bowser to even consider having her in his castle. So the brothers set off, this time working together with such things as spin jumps, brothers action skills in battle scenes and even in solving certain puzzles to advance the story and game. And if you’ve played The Legend Of Zelda The Minish Cap, the part where Mario has to be shrunk in order to enter small doorways might seem similar. Luigi can also be hammered into a mole to accomplish similar actions. So if you’re looking for an enjoyable game with excellent graphics and good game play, this is one you would like. Although some of the timed puzzles are frustrating, they are not impossible. Oh and in this one, the brothers actually get a chance to repair a plumbing leak or two. Enjoy, and if those timed challenges get to be a bit unbearable at times, just take a break and try it later. ------------ About the author Judy Ramsook: My first book titled: "Karen's Adventure" which is about two young girls who go in search of their missing parents, is now available.
