Latoyia Figueroa And Natalee Holloway

By Robert Paul Reyes
July 29, 2005

A missing person's case in Southwest Philadelphia is receiving a fraction of the publicity surrounding Natalee Holloway's disappearance.

LaToyia Figueroa, 24, is five months pregnant and has a 7-year-old daughter. She was last seen on July 18th walking from a friend's house after going to a doctor's appointment with her boyfriend, the father of her unborn child.

Latoyia Figueroa is young and beautiful, you would think her photogenic face would be all over the media, but such is not the case.

During the first weeks of Natalee Holloway's disappearance, FOX News personality, Greta Van Susteren, was encamped in faraway Aruba to breathlessly report on the Holloway case. But Greta has yet to make an appearance at the working class Southwest Philadelphia neighborhood where LaToyia lives.

A few strands of blond hair attached to a piece of duct tape, used condoms found on a beach -- the slightest development in the Holloway saga garners tons of media coverage. Why isn't this type of saturation coverage given to the LaToyia Figueroa disappearance?

Latoyia Figueroa is of African American/Hispanic heritage, does that have something to do with the dearth of publicity surrounding her disappearance.

FOX News, MSNBC and CNN may not be giving the Latoyia story the attention it deserves, but thank goodness for the bloggers who are keeping this story alive.

As a writer for several Internet sites, I will do my best to make sure that the name "Latoyia Figueroa" is no stranger to Google News.
