The American Congress - Left And Right

By Michael John McCrae
July 26, 2005

The United States is at war. An evil and very aggressive enemy is killing Americans and members of societies allied with the cause of freedom and peace. Spain, England, and even more recently, Egypt have felt the sting of radical, Islamic, indiscriminate terrorist murder.

It was good to see the U.S. Congress pass the extension to the Patriot Act. Although there were a few changes; the changes served to give the act additional strength where it was needed in the extension of certain provisions that were to expire.

In the meanwhile: Sen. Hillary Clinton was telling America’s “largest Hispanic civil rights organization” that she would fully support legislation aimed at permitting “illegal immigrant high school students to attend [American] colleges”. She received a standing ovation from the group. (FOXNEWS.com: “Clinton speaks before Hispanic civil rights conference”, 18 July 2005)

Now, I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble here concerning the “DREAM” act; but if we are going to fight and support “illegal” (Yes, that’s ILLEGAL!) immigrant high school children; I will assume that is ALL “illegal” immigrant high school children; including the illegal Muslims, Haitians, Colombians, Europeans, etc. America is, after all, the land of illegal immigrant equal opportunity; right?

Then there was Senator John Kerry trying to keep his political aspirations going with his demand that Judge John G. Roberts release “in their entirety” every single document that bears his name from the time he was three years old. (Yes, that’s a mild exaggeration.) (FOXNEWS.com: “Kerry: Release Records on Roberts”, 22 July 2005)

This “demand” coming from a formerly beaten Presidential hopeful (That was a 6 million vote defeat; and I believe they are still counting in Ohio.) who has yet to release “in their entirety” his own records that will attest to his fitness (or “UN-fitness”) to command the United States Armed Forces as Commander in Chief.

Sen. Kerry isn’t even a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He has nothing to say; unless, of course, he cares to release ALL his records.

Lest we ignore the “Right” in this recent spurt of Congressional blabber-ism; let’s talk of Republican Representative Frank LoBiondo and his forced apology for saying that the Taliban detainees at Guantanamo Bay were worse than Adolph Hitler. (FOXNEWS.com: “N.J. Rep. Regrets Calling Detainees Lower Than Hitler”, 17 July 2005)

He probably could have left the sentiment as stated. He put his foot further down his throat however by suggesting Hitler: “sort of had a political rationale about what he was doing.”

This was a suggestion that the Taliban just do what they do because they like murdering for the sake of murdering everyone and anyone who disagree with them. Even though that would be a true statement, we must still remember that the rat-bag, scum-sucking, radical Islamic, murderous Taliban are very sensitive about being compared to any rat-bag, scum-sucking, radical fascist, and murderous Nazi infidel.

Rep. LoBiondo was right, but he should have been right a little more quietly.

The other Republican suffering a sudden bout of “foot-in-mouth-ism” was Representative Tom Tancredo of Colorado who allowed himself to be suckered into a hypothetical about how the U.S. should respond to a multiple “suitcase dirty bomb” assault by known radical, Islamic, scumbag, rat-puke terrorists.

His response was the hypothetical: “…you could take out their holy sites.”

The interviewer; jumping on the possibility of putting words in the mouth of a Republican that were never spoken by the Republican responded: “You’re talking about bombing Mecca.” (Talk Show Host Pat Campbell, WFLA-AM, Orlando, Fla.)

To which Rep. Tancredo; with shoe already in mouth; responded: “Yeah.”

What was it Forrest Gump’s mom said: “Stupid is as stupid does?” or something to that effect?

When President Carter was faced by an act of war from a radical Islamic nation (Iran); his response was to sit quietly and try to negotiate away the situation for 444 days. He met with failure. So I understand the sentiment behind the hypothetical of Rep. Tancredo. It was the same sentiment I had back in President Carter’s term. We should have threatened the Iranian’s holiest cities with complete destruction in response to their act of war. That is how you defeat your enemy. You do not defeat your enemy by talking him to death. You must kill him to death.

Left or Right I think Congress needs and enema.
