Strategic Defeat For Al Quida

By Mike Haran
July 16, 2005

The latest attack in London by the Al Quida begs the question :are the members of its general staff completly sane. Let me refresh the reader on what are the basis for the warfare where a smaller less sophisticated force fights a large, highly technologically sophisticated one. One of the key ingredients is the playing upon the sympathies of the target nations media. Department "A" of the soviet KGB in its handling of the various European terror groups would coordinate attacks and demonstrations with a vigorous disinformation campaign designed to bring doubt upon the legality of western institutions. General Giap, the North Vietnamese commander, has stated in his memoirs that it would have been imposible for him to have won without the massive demonstrations during the Nixon bombings, his forces on the verge of disintegration and ready to pull back to China.

In our present day the media has set the stage for a disimformatin campaign combined with military action. The so called prisoner abuses and the lack of any WMD combined with any thing that would discredit the Republicans would be the way to go. Pure bombing of civilians will eventually lose its effect as they come to realize that they have as much chance of being hurt as being hit by lightening. Figure that 3 million ride London transport every day and that so far 100 or so have been killed. That would give odds of 100 to 3 million. Personally I would have had no fear riding the tube on the day of the attack if even given warning. The chances of it being me that would die are infintesimal.

All of this points to a lack of cohesion in the central planning department of Al Quida. Do they expect divine intervention. They are certainly going to need it. Just a few days after the bombing Jordan and Canada declared for the west, Canada alteady on board but now committed to greater military effort in Afghanistan. With the quick capture of the local commader and the indentification of those involved the Al Quida has lost its aura of invulnerability thus encouraging others who are heartily sick of the organisation but previously afraid to come forward.
