The Pope Condemns Harry Potter

By Robert Paul Reyes
July 14, 2005

Pope Benedict XVI has condemned the Harry Potter books because the main characters are wizards and witches.

Apparently the esteemed theologian hasn't read the Bible, which is full of witches, miracle workers, demons and all sorts of fantasy creatures.

The Pope's asinine comments were included in two letters to Gabriele Kuby, the German religious author, who wrote the book, Harry Potter - Good or Evil?

In one letter to Kuby the head of the Catholic Church wrote "It is good that you enlighten us on the Harry Potter matter, for these are subtle seductions that are barely noticeable, and precisely because of that have a deep effect and corrupt the Christian faith in souls even before it could properly grow."

The Holy Father praised the author for her "instructive" book, in which Kuby argues that the Harry Potter novels corrupt children, preventing them from being able to distinguish between good and evil.

The Pope and Ms Kuby are out of touch with reality, the lines between good and evil are clearly demarcated in the Harry Potter novels.

Pope Benedict XVI has a problem with a boy wizard portrayed as one of the good guys, I have a bigger problem with child-molesting priests portrayed as "men of God."
