July 11, 2005 Our war with the islamists really didn't begin with the invasion of Iraq, truth be told it really didn't begin on 9/11. It began with the rise of the mullahs in Iran back in 1979. Ever since the jihadists have waged war on the west, (they want us dead or conquered) but it is fair to say that we never paid too much attention. We treated the attacks as isolated incidents, that were best solved by warrants and guilty verdicts, not by retaliation. Of course 9/11 changed all of that. No longer are we going to allow them to plot an attack and carry it out. But can the same be said of Europe? After the bombings in Madrid the socialists took over and removed all Spanish troops from the coalition.(more evidence that the left either helps the jihadist, or roots for them) We don't know what will happen with the British after the bombings in London, but I am not optimistic. The war was never popular with the British with most people opposing it, after all why fight a tyrant when you can appease one? Blair himself has a past of giving in to terrorist organizations, he caved in to the IRA, he might very will give up to Al-Qaida. One can only wonder when Rome will be hit. But the war goes back further still really, so let me amend my statement. The war with MODERN Jihad began in 1979, we have been at war with Muslims ever since they burst onto the scene 1400 years ago. We go to great lengths to insist that we are not at war with Islam. They make no bones about it, they are at war with everything. Modernity, democracy, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, you could probably add the girl scouts to the list. And this from the religion that means peace? Read the Jihadist rants and they still refer to us as crusaders, like this is 1095 and we are going to war for the holy land. They still think of Europe as Christendom, someone should tell the Euro's that their enemies don't care whether they are post Christian or not, they still want them dead. Sadly many of our wounds in this war are self inflicted. We allowed the jihadist ranks to grow right under our noses, but did nothing. We allowed vast numbers of muslim immigrants into our countries and are now coping with the consequences. The Netherlands is trying to cope with islamist killers in their country who have nothing but contempt for the Dutch and their way of life, France is about 10% muslim and that number will grow given their high birth rate, and the shrinking birth rates of the rest of Europe. If immigration trneds don't stop Italy, Spain, and France will have muslim majorities within a few decades. What they couldn't do with the sword we will do to ourselves in the name of multiculturism, and open borders. The spreading of democracy will help. It might lead to modern societies in the tribal part of the world, it might lead to capitalist economies that can provide for the people of the middle east instead of sending them abroad to look for work, democracies will end the autocracies that give fuel to the islamists. So we are on the right track.
