July 9, 2005 I hear so many excuses for so many things concerning behavior of certain people with supposedly High IQs. And people trying to cut down others to bring themselves up; cut them down at their expense that is; because they want to feel superior—because they have a high IQ; thus, their behavior is allowable no matter what, and if it backfires on them, then it is considered simply rude of the other person wash your hands and go on with life; because his IQ on the test sheet turned out to be a little lower (as if it should be measured by spelling or grammar). I have a set of twin boys; one is in the 93% [percentile] nationally for intelligence, the other, like me, 60%, or average intelligence. The one with the 93% thinks he can say and do what he wants, and hurt anyone because he has the capacity to learn quicker, everything in this intellectual world happens to be a little easier for him; very few people in his world are right, and if he decides to eliminate you, he closes his box. I see this on the UK with a few people, and it is sad to say the least, people going in circles as if the readers are dumb, below him and they are the Einstein’s of the crowd, bestowing their wisdom to us dumb folk; hence, nobodies experience counts but theirs, if there is a person with a higher IQ in the crowd that is. I’m sure the intelligent people of the UK will not read this, so I’ve been told, it is not up to their standards. Let’s shift a bit, remember this is just my opinion, and we all have them. If I’m a Christian, why would I not fight in a Christian Stance? (Rhetorical question) Yet the atheist thinks the Christian should give in. It is as the Democrats think the Republican President, should appoint a person for the Supreme Court that believes halfway in abortions, or gay rights. Now why would a Christian-Republican even think like that (would an atheist-President think about putting in a Christian on the Supreme Court—? no way); because he represents 280-million Americans perhaps, no…? They were not the ones that elected him; it was those folks like me. This has nothing to do with fairness; it has to do with values. We live by values and behavior. And yes, I’ve been in the military 11-years, and traveled, but I started traveling at age 17, and lived in many places, not just by military grace. As some would have you believe. And I’ve been in Muslim countries, as well as the China’s backyard. And a few dozen other places; do I hate them all as some folks would have you believe who know nothing about me. I hate nobody, I just hate bad behavior, be it black, white, yellow, brown, Christian, Jew, Muslim and so forth. And if the shoe fits, so be it. And of course not everyone is guilty for the wrongs of a few; but many are guilty, that are not being looked at. And when governments over look bad behavior because of trying to be fair, you know what they get, and it isn’t fairness. And to use, misspellings or grammar to win a battle, or to try to persuade another to your opinion, is wrong, it is simply trying to control the debate, without logic. It’s an old trick I seen used a hundred times in counseling. Anger is used that way also. And loud voices are used to control the person you want to control. But let me go on with my behavior schema here. It is ok to be Muslim, or Jew or Atheist, or whatever you wish, in America (it is only in other countries you cannot be these things; if I was in Egypt, I’d not want to be a Jew; Americans have a hard enough time, if not with a tourist group). [Back to the IQ] But a high IQ does not give one a ticket for a free ride to the moon; or maybe perhaps it does, but I’d protest with my tax money. Sometimes the higher the intelligence, the dumber they are in everything else. Matter of fact, I found with many so called highly intellectuals, common sense, was not common anymore for them, my son being one (I hate to say). Robert Bly once said (the Poet), during a Town Hall Meeting, at the Fitzgerald Theater, and I shall paraphrase this: Harvard may have hurt me more than helped me. I think he was talking about its prestige. I personally like the guy, but some of my friends who know him, find him difficult to get along with. Perhaps because of his arrogance or whatever they find wrong with him. I accept him for who he is. Yes, he is intelligent, and do not agree with all his works—no, especially the ones on, what I consider social and psychological concepts, in particular in his book, “Iron John,” but a wise and cleaver poet he is. On another note, if we didn’t have dumb people, the smart ones wouldn’t know they were smart, now would they…so the High IQers, should be happy. Howard Stern likes to put down retarded children, not sure why, but he has, and did. Perhaps it made him feel big. He did it publicly, and was proud of it. Is he smart? Well, he got 10-million followers, I suppose he got something. I rather think his followers are more in the adolescent stage, and like the way Stern talks, because he talks with that vernacular. And everybody laughs but the retarded child, and sometimes he laughs not knowing the scorn being laid upon him. This is intelligence talking, believe it or not. Dan Rather, who is smart, indicated one should not look at another’s Vietnam record when ruining for President; why not, they look at everything else. Here is a smart guy telling the American people to vote for Kerry. These are smart goofballs if you ask me; Tim Robbins is another, as is Harry Bellefonte, and Phil Donahue. Paris Hilton is a smart goofball, as is Barbara Streiand, a political activist with a smart humdrum dumb look, and a Bush basher because he doesn’t cater to her every wish; Carmen Diaz and Kate Hudson are similar; all smart cookies. One of the behaviors I don’t like I suppose is someone trying to shove down my throat, garbage I don’t believe in, and then say to me it’s based on logic, their logic of course. I find that what smart people say today, will retract in five years, i.e.: “Well, that was five years ago, things have changed, now we know better…” thus, they were wrong five years ago, when they said, “Oh this is it, the mighty truth of all truths!!” So when you say this is it, doesn’t mean it is it, it means, it is what that person believes it to be with is limited knowledge, for we all have that. ------------ About the author: Mr. Siluk is a world traveler, a lover of the mysteries around the world, and has visit many World Heritage Sites, his most recent being Easter Island, the Galapagos and Mesa Verde.
