Being 2/3 There With Frederick Smith

By John L. Waters
July 5, 2005

Dear Fred:

In your well-composed article "Humanism: Punching Bag Of Old and New Age Religions," June 25, 2005 you write that I am "2/3 there" and you take issue with the first paragraph which I meant in good humor.

Certainly, you are right in that I can't prove that humanists are necessarily more emotionally labile than say, Italian Catholics or professional chemists who graduated from Stanford. Using more careful wording, I might well move on to make points about emotional lability, but that subject is too long for this letter.

Later in paragraph 3 of your article you say, "but you need to extend it [my naturalistic thinking] further and you will actually show humanism, not God."

Next you write about the God center in the brain. You say that the brain’s God center has been studied. The problem is, I still wonder about confusing the eyes and the visual cortex with the sun. The eyes and the visual cortex respond to the sun but these components do not contain the sun. The ears and the auditory cortex don't contain the thunderstorm that makes the thunder. Why should the brain's God center contain god?

Moving on, in my paper "Where God Comes From" I suggest that there logically can exist a dimension beyond space and time where there is plenty of room for some extra "energy" or "stuff." If we are going to talk about a God center in the brain, I would argue that some God center in the brain senses or registers this yogic stuff and responds to it better than the eyes respond to audio inputs and the ears respond to light from a flashlight. The God center just responds to God. Yogis sense and project this Godstuff. Their careful and devoted students get the transmission. (yogic force)

Best wishes, and be well.
