Jan. 30, 2005 After you have downloaded Firefox, installed it, and downloaded and installed the proxy add-on, you will note that a Proxy toolbar shows up, and that gives you the opportunity to add your list of proxy servers. Once you apply the list, you will note that the Status "button" in the center of the proxy bar shows an IP address which changes at the interval you specified. And you may also notice that sometimes you are interrupted in your surfing by a message in English, Chinese, or Arabic which will say that you have been blocked for various reasons. Immediately note which IP address is in the Status display at that time. Go to the "edit" line on the toolbar, and simply delete that IP address from your list if you don't want someone else censoring your surfing. This just might be sounding like a lot of bother, but it really isn't. And the benefits are that the websites you visit will have a much tougher time tracing you back if you happen to surf your way onto a malignant site intent upon doing you harm, such as hacking into your computer and using it to distribute pornography. Or perhaps trying to steal your credit card numbers, bank accounts, etc. I think it is worth it, given the increasing numbers of malicious people out there on the internet. ------------ About the author Brooks A.
