Jan. 27, 2005 What I am about to write will probably not sit too well with most people, until they think more about it. I might never be allowed back into Israel, which I would love to visit again one day. However, I have to speak my mind. There have been a few recent articles here on UK that have struck the same cord. I thought I would add my two shekels worth. Who do the Jews think they are that they can hijack the cause of human suffering and ride on this wave of pity and charity for 60 years? Are the Jews the only people to have suffered inhuman acts over the last 5,000 years? I dare say not. Are they the only ones to have suffered the insufferable over the last 100 years? I think not. In fact, they have created this propaganda machine around the world to play on the suffering of six million of their families and brethren. I am not suggesting that the suffering of the European Jews, at the hands of Hitler’s henchmen, was not a most dreadful thing. No-one can deny that Hitler’s Final Solution was anything but a crime against all of humanity. No-one can deny that what happened at Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, Treblinka and the multitude of other extermination camps was the most disgusting act that any group of human beings has ever inflicted on another. I watch the film footage and tears come to my eyes, like they would to anyone else with any hint of compassion in them. What bothers me about this is that there is no Jewish led movement that leads the world in preventing human suffering. I should qualify this and say that there is none that I, or anyone else I know, know of. If there is, then please enlighten me … and the rest of the world. We’ve all heard of the WWF, UNICEF, the Red Cross, the Red Crescent, Medicin sans Frontiers, Amnesty International and all the other wonderful groups that do things on a global scale. We’ve even heard of RSCPA, SPCA, and PETA which deal with the suffering of animals. Where is the Jewish or Israeli contribution? And don’t give me any of that garbage about the Simon Weisenthal Centre. That was set up as an act of vengeance, with a hint of justice. The SWC does not operate for the benefit of alleviating suffering to humanity, unless that humanity is Jewish. Was Israel shouting loudest, or even at all, when we heard of the ethnic cleansing in the Bosnian conflict? No. I am a world news junkie (including reading Israeli papers), and I heard and read nothing. Were there Israelis in the forefront of resolving that issue? No. Where was Israel when we heard of the million or so killed in the Hutu / Tootsie wars? Nowhere. Has Israel done anything about the millions killed in the Sudan over the last ten years? No. Nothing. How many Jews died in Hitler’s concentration camps? 6,000,000. How many Poles died in the same camps? 6,000,000. How many Russians died at the hand of Stalin during his purges? At least 20,000,000. 7,000,000 of these were Ukrainians alone. How many people were tortured, and then burned alive for being accused of witchcraft by the Catholic church? Millions The point is that as we sit here on this day, January 27th 2005, let us not have this called Holocaust Day in remembrance of just the six million Jews who were murdered. A Jewish life is worth no more than any other life. Let us sit here on this day, International Human Suffering Day, and remember that we all live on this planet together. Do something to show us that Israel is not a self-serving, self-centred country. Of course, I am not suggesting that Jews, from all countries, do not contribute to charitable causes or that Jews are not involved with any humanitarian organizations. They are. Of course they are, and I appreciate and applaud their contributions. Israeli’s seem to be too busy with their domestic land grab and wall building to bother with the suffering of any other race or ethnic group. Time is running out for their grandparents. What will be left after the last Holocaust survivor has gone in a decade or so? I see but a handful of museums around the world and some film footage. Where is the legacy in that? Are six million frames of film worth six million of your people? ------------ About the author: Stu Loveday loves and respects the power of the written word.
