Jan. 27, 2005 It is time to do something about the human waves that are continually coming across our border, illegally. Sadly neither party seems interested in stopping the over 1 million illegal immigrants...oops, I mean undocumented workers(that's what we have to call them now)who enter this country each year. The laws of this country must be enforced or they mean nothing. We enforce laws requiring auto insurance more steadfastly than we do guarding our borders. This is one front in the war against the terrorists that we are not fighting. The battle for Afghanistan toppled the Taliban, the battle for Iraq removed the Baathists, both made America safer. The same can't be said when it comes to safeguarding our borders and protecting our national soverignty. We are at war, and our leaders talk about guest worker programs. Why don't they just call it what it is and say amnesty? While their at it why not pass that asinine open border amendment the Wall Street Journal is always pushing? Here is just some of the ways our borders are a front on the war on terror: "Terrorists seek to get into country through Mexico"- Washington Times April 7, 2003. "Smuggling ring boss sentenced to 1 year" San Diego Union Tribune. Salin Baughrader Mucharrafille pleaded guilty in March to running a ring that smuggled more than 100 immigrants across border, most were Lebanese. Terrorists have been apprehended trying to cross our border. Gazi Ibraham abu Mazer- 1996 arrested twice within six days of crossing the border illegally. Both times turned over to the INS who released him back across the border. 1997- Arrested a third time coming across the border illegally. Later arrested in New York in plot against subway. Hesham Mohammed Hadayet- opened fire at LAX EL AL counter killing two and wounding several others. In 1995 skipped a removal hearing and stayed in the U.S. without a work permit. Associated with Al Gamma'a Al Islamiyaa, a group seeking to put an inslamic government in place in Egypt. Wahid El-Hagl- Arrested in Saguro national park for having an AK-47. 1998 indicted in connection with embasy bombings, currently serving a life sentence. Ahmed Rassam- 1996 arrested twice within 6 days for crossing Canadian border illegally. INS released him across border. 1997 arrested a third time coming across illegally. Later arrested in NY in a plot against subway. We are being invaded, and what is Washington's response? Nothing. The right says illegal immigrants help the economy because they do the jobs Americans won't do. Funny how americans were always willing to do those jobs until the floodgates were opened so they could pay illegals a fraction of the pay. It doesn't help the economy. Illegals get far more out of the system than they put in. Otherwise they wouldn't come to America. Healthcare, education, welfare, all at our expense. Young people in America are often snubbed for work in favor of illegal immigrants. The left is just as bad, if not worse. They see potential voters, give 'em a green card, a welfare check, a drivers liscence a promise never to deport them and watch them vote democratic. Illegal immigration is going to cause our population to explode putting a strain on our economy and social services.
