Jan. 20, 2005 Tune in to this popular, weekly talent show and you’re not sure whether to cheer or chuckle! Without a doubt, some performers are truly talented, and destined to become tomorrow’s mega superstars. Other contestants are less gifted than the happy hour crowd at your local Karaoke Bar. But one thing’s for certain--- too many are deeply in denial and delusional! I wonder how friends and family members could support singers in traveling great distances, and at great financial expense, to make complete fools of themselves. One hopeful idol even pawned her wedding rings to make the trip! Is it just for fifteen minutes of fame, or are they completely clueless? This fiasco is proof positive that many of us could use a reality check in things we regard as our “strengths”. Whether it’s writing, singing, or acting. Open your eyes, your heart, and set aside your ego. Surround yourself with honest critics.
