Jan. 9, 2005 Maybe it’s me, but this “makeover madness” is driving me mad! The Swan, Extreme Makeovers, Oprah’s 30 minute makeovers, etc. etc. What is this nip, tuck and fix obsession that has millions spending thousands! Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely into self- improvement. Just as long as it doesn’t require dieting, deprivation, popping pills, going under the knife, or investing over a hundred bucks. I figure, at some point in time, you have to resign yourself to the hand you’ve been dealt and just make the best of life and what you’ve got. Unless of course you are the victim of an accident or physical deformity. Sure, if I had my druthers, I’d have bigger boobs, would minimize my gluteus maximus, house less cellulite, and sport a stiffer chin. Sure, I wouldn’t mind having the smile of Julia Roberts, the hair of Nicole Kidman, the firmness of Halle Berry, and Tina Turner’s legs. But that’s not what I’m working with. On the other hand, I make a mean meatloaf, and am blessed with a good heart and a good head on my shoulders. Not to mention, I do a karaoke performance that rivals an American Idol routine, look younger than my age, and have tried to improve the human condition with my pen. I’m kind to animals, kids, cute guys, and the elderly. And when possible, observe the Golden Rule.
