Jan. 7, 2005 Growing up, my father would come out with these one-liner words of wisdom. Things that I would store in the memory card of my mind and forget about for the time being. Things I thought would never apply to life in general. A few days ago I was driving God knows where in Western Massachusetts with Bryan looking for work here and there listening to Bryan's new obsession, a band called the Kottonmouth Kings. I've never heard of the band or any of their songs. But I like to induldge Bryan, and it is his CD player, so I am listening. There is a song on the CD called "Positive Vibes", and if I weren't driving I would have stared at the radio, wondering if these people have met my father and got his words of wisdom. I never thought it was going to happen, but the words apply to my life, and the lives of everyone I know today. I would like to pass these words on to you, in hopes you may get some positive vibes of your own. "Mama always told me there'd be days like these." This is a big one. You'll always have bad days, but you'll have good days too. "Respect yourself." One would think that this would be an easy one, but it's not. "The two-faced friends, the snakes in the grass Daddy always told me there’d be men like that." This one is taken directly from the song, but my dad told me something just like it. If you have someone in your life like that, you really should get rid of them. If they're two-faced, they're not really friends, are they? "Don’t ever write a check that your @$$ can’t cash." This is one that I would get when I was in trouble. Again, it's true. And the best thing that I think I've ever heard. "Life's for fun, so go and play." Try that one out.
