Feb. 25, 2005 Everything that you give out in life, eventually all of it shall return to you (Job 4:8; Proverbs 11:18; 22:8; 2 Corinthians 9:6; Galatians 6:7~8). Even though you may not know it-or don’t accept it, what leaves your mouth creates your future that will at one time or another catch up with you (Proverbs 18:21) and you have no one to blame but yourself. Many believe that satan can do whatever he wants to us; if this was true, then why doesn’t he kill us while we are asleep? The Bible says that the angels listen to God’s word (Psalm 103:20). So, if we speak the word of God (what is written in the Bible), that will activate His angels to work in our lives. The same principle works with demons. The corrupt words which we speak cause demons to act in our lives and God’s angels can do nothing about it. For we have given the demonic spirits authority by opening our mouth to do things in our lives. Both angels and demons are activated by the authority of our words. Foolish people who are prideful also tend to say what comes to mind, and are very boastful (Proverbs 6:12). The Bible speaks about not having a mouth full of deceit (Proverbs 4:24). Even Christians can speak negative words, either because they choose to-or because they don’t know any better. Words can harm others, and even kill (Proverbs 12:6). Hurtful words bring disgust to the Lord (Proverbs 12:22), and foolish ways does nothing good for us, it only shortens our life (Proverbs 10:27). If you keep watch over your mouth, you would have less trouble (Proverbs 21:23). It is a choice that you have to make. Like God, when we were created in His image, we were also (like Him) given a freewill. When man was created, he demonstrated his freewill that was given to him (Genesis 3:6). There are many places throughout the Bible where people have done wrong because of spoken words. Another account of how powerful words are can be found in the book of Luke. “But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time” (Luke 1:20). If you read a few verses above 1:20, you will see that it was an angel talking to Zacharias about John’s birth, but he did not believe the angel and he began to speak doubt and unbelief, which would have caused John never to be born therefore, the angel (Gabriel) muted Zacharias voice until John was born. Words created the world (Genesis 1:1), and they also created all living things (Genesis 1:24~27). Before anything existed, the word (Yeshua) dwelled with God (John 1:1), and when God spoke, the Word went and created it. God created us in His image (Genesis 1:27), and He gave us authority over this planet and everything on it (Genesis 1:28). Before you speak, you should be watchful of what leaves your mouth. Even though man has fallen and originally gave our authority over to satan, we got our authority back when Yeshua died and rose again. Therefore our words carry power and authority. ------------ About the author Daniel D. Scenters: I have been writing for awhile.
