To Teachers

By Judy Ramsook
Feb. 23, 2005

This is not your ordinary nine to five day at the office, for teachers are involved in instilling knowledge into the kids of today and tomorrow. Knowledge that will inspire, motivate and shape these kids' future as they strive for a better tomorrow. But more importantly, it is a profession that requires a certain amount of patience and love of the young ones who are before them.

For it takes a special type of individual to want to become a teacher, and not just anyone can teach, in many cases it involves more than just reading from a text. For while reading the words between the pages of a book is fine, the students may need the teacher's guidance in order to understand the printed material before them.

Although it is not a highly paid profession, unless one happens to be teaching at the college level, most teachers do their best to ensure that their students understand the material presented to them. And if the end result is satisfying by having good grades on that test, then both teacher and pupil would indeed have accomplished their goal.

For there is no greater reward than producing positive results at the end of a hard day's work and what a reward it is. For those students have now mastered the art of a mathematical skill such as multiplication or trigonometry. A skill they will need if they decide to pursue a career in engineering, or any of the sciences.

No one comes into this world knowing things. We gather knowledge from different sources, and one of those sources whether or not it is a public setting or being home schooled, being taught by a teacher is one of those ways. And although it can be challenging at times, keep up the good work all you teachers out there, the world will always need you.
