Feb. 22, 2005 The war on terror, whether against jihadist or secular thugs,has accomplished much.The Taliban is gone, and Iraq has a democratic government for the first time in decades. The tide is changing, getting ready for another wave. Syria, ruled by the incompetent Bashar Al-Assad, has created a mess for itself in Lebanon. Its assassination of the former prime minister has stirred up people in the occupied nation. How long can Syria hold onto its fiefdom? There is a sense of desperation coming from the terrorists. It can be seen in Iraq mostly. They rampage even as the people defy them. The Iraqi people had been terrorized for decades, they want no more of the beheaders and their allies. Baathists,jihadists, and marxists working together to drive out the US and stop any hope of an emerging democracy in the middle east.All are totalitarian ideologies,Zarqawi even called democracy a false religion and condemned voters as apostates. Freedom, the freedom to reject them, drives the terrorists into a frenzy. The mullahs in Iran are working feverishly to surround themselves with nuclear weapons. Believeing that if they possess such an arsenal they will gurantee that their nation will never be attacked. The mullahs don't realize that their greatest threat is not from our army but from their own people. Their war is one for their survival, and in a way our survivial as well. We can't continue to have a middle east plagued with dictators robbing their nations, clerics preaching death to nonbelievers, populaces that celebrate mass terrorism and make common criminals national heroes. They're losing. There is no way around it. Assad won't be able to hold onto Lebanon forever, and when he loses Lebanon he will lose his own country as well. Iraq is free, and Iran is teetering on the brink.
