Feb. 21, 2005 Cruising the web is a hobby of mine, and a nice person recommended this site: http://www.bgc-cdale.org/local/local/local.php?sectionid=1. Now from the first look at the site, I thought "this is a pretty good site." I could navigate the site and understand what it was about right away. Why is this important? This Boys and Girls Club site is one of many web sites the club has to offer. The Boys and Girls Club is an organization that keeps kids busy with activities, so those kids do not get themselves in trouble. At this time, this is really needed in our communities. Kids need supervision and stimulation. The Boys and Girls Club offers this in a safe enviroment. The people that work for the Club do not get paid enough for the efforts they put into making the Club a safe place for children. Their efforts help communities and are appreciated by the clients of the club, the children. The staff provides support for the children, tutoring sessions to help the children exel in school and organized activities to keep children active. The government is cutting the budget on Education. Which means school districts have cut programs like gym, recess and art. The Boys and Girls Club brings these things back to children. The site mentions all of this; but if you look at this club's web site it's in the small town of Carbondale, IL. You might think small towns in America are better off than cities but that is mistaken. Small town America get hit harder by budget cuts because states will filter money to the cities, where more people live. I think community business' need to donate more to their local Boys and Girls Club. If that happens the Clubs could offer more services. Making a better safer place that encourages learning for our children. Thanks Boys and Girls Club for providing just that. ------------ About the author: Being a full time writer is the hardest job that I have tried.
