Feb. 17, 2005 In my response to the alleged Boleslaw Schlabatinskyskya (where DID he come up with that name?) I was typing too quickly and gave his name as Joel Friedman. It is, actually, Joel Friedland. Also, since my last article was published, Joel has removed his portion from his blog. The complete (now deleted by Joel) text reads: "Your next door neighbor 1965 -- 1973 says hello Lord Brandoch Daha ticktockman, I found you after using Google for about a half- hour. Elsewhere in this weblog, you post that were to be published and said your name is Gerald Etkind so when I read that you are the son and grandson of doctors who went to Yale, I knew you were my neighbor growing up. I am Joel Friedland. I was the baby sitter for you and your brothers twice and I worked in your family's kitchen when your mom had a party once. I know very little of you or your family since I left for Penn in 1973. I know your folks divorced at some point. How are your brothers doing? In 1980 or so, when I was 25, I met your mom at a singles weekend at the Concord, much to our mutual embarrassment. At college and since, I share in common with you that: "My whole life is one of unrealized potential. I am not what I could have been, not what I was expected to be, I have greatness in me that is more than just pride and illusion. I could have been a contender." We can rest assured that your folks and mine were doing the best they could to do well by us, even to the point of where they chose to live. The Arffa kids, 3 houses down from you growing up, 2 doors down from me, are all enormously successful -- Robert's an opthalmologist in Pittsburgh with several textbooks and investing books to his credit, Allan's a partner at Paul Weiss, and Bonnie is (or was) a partner at McKinsey. As for me, my brother Philip is a sole practitioner CPA and my brother Ralph is a sole practitioner attorney. They're both married with kids. I'm single and a bum, disgustingly so. I was a broker for Morgan Stanley (Dean Witter) for a dozen years. I am "between jobs" and looking to change my career. I repeatedly tell the white lies of the stigmatized mentally ill. Since college graduation I've spent 1/3 of my time unemployed, 1/3 underemployed, and 1/3 working. Telling the truth -- that I was severely disturbed coming out of college and that I took a civil service job at the beginning of "my career" because my psychiatrist viewed the low- stress milieu as conducive to my recovery -- is highly unlikely to produce positive results." I wish you all the best and would greatly appreciate hearing from you. joeltfriedland@yahoo.com joelfriedland@hotmail.com boleslawschlabatinskyskya@hotmail.com (for responding to political sites -- initials B.S.)
